How about: Under the new racial laws, only native British islanders (however we define that today, as it's so complex) are allowed to openly carry those (picture). This heartbreaking situation underscores the urgent need to look at where their systems fell short, specifically regarding law enforcement, the complexities surrounding cultural and religious exemptions, and how they prioritize rapid emergency responses. So, so terrible!!! btw Religious kirpans (small ceremonial daggers) receive partial legal protection under equality and religious freedom laws framework for Sikhs. However, this case involved a much larger shastar that was carried openly, a distinction that prosecutors argue disqualifies it from such protections. While Digwa was also carrying the standard small kirpan, there is no blanket "one ethnic group allowed" rule. Exemptions remain narrow, courts assess them on a case-by-case basis, and the possession of large blades like the one in question is routinely prosecuted.

what the fuck is happening in the UK?! an 18yo kid was stabbed four times by a fellow british* man "Vikrum Digwa" who was openly carrying an 8 inch blade in public (which is illegal in the UK, but under the new racial laws only one ethnic group is allowed to do) chased down when he tried to escape, stabbed again, but since the gentleman claimed henry did one of the worst crimes one can commit in the west, doing a racism, the police put the bleeding kid in handcuffs and let him die on the pavement what the fuck?!

The concept of harmony among all beings and respect for the law of nature, of course. 🎋
joysmith@JoBurnat

It sounds beautiful in theory, and as a piece of diplomatic image-work, it is highly effective. However, there is a stark contradiction between this philosophy of "harmony with nature" and the state’s actual governance. President Xi Jinping’s perspective on China's current demographic crisis strictly avoids any acknowledgment that the Communist Party's own decades-long One-Child Policy caused the upheaval. Instead of recognizing it as a catastrophic historical mistake, the state frames the current decline as a "necessary adjustment." Because the government refuses to offer a moral reset or apologize for the traumas of the past, many young Chinese citizens, especially women, remain deeply skeptical. They feel that the state historically treated women's bodies as population-control metrics and is now attempting to treat them as economic assembly lines for more workers (and consumers). This has triggered a wave of cultural resistance against the government's aggressive push for more babies. While Xi’s current stance represents a dramatic U-turn from the era of strict population control, it retains the exact same top-down, state-managed philosophy. Rather than viewing family size as a personal freedom, the current administration views population decline as a direct threat to China's rise. Through official speeches and state policy rollouts, this perspective operates on a foundational pillar: Demographics as a Matter of National Security. Xi Jinping does not view the birth rate merely as a social or economic issue; he treats it as a matter of geopolitical survival. In major official addresses, the leadership has explicitly noted that the rise and fall of major powers are profoundly affected by population conditions, meaning demographic security must be incorporated into the broader framework of national security. With China's population shrinking and aging rapidly, the government fears a dwindling labor force will stall economic growth, overwhelm pension systems, and threaten national stability. Consequently, the narrative has shifted from forced population control to a "patriotic duty," framing childbirth not as a natural human choice, but as a way for citizens to contribute directly to the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Polish history is incredibly complex. While my views do not entirely align with Tokarczuk's on many issues, and I am skeptical of modern ideological approaches to multiculturalism or Great Replacement theories, it is an undeniable fact that prior to the horrific wartime upheavals, purges, mass displacements, and mass murders of the 20th century, Poland was defined by a deeply pluralistic identity. During this era, although the roots of the Polish language were typically Slavic, the region was characterized by immense cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity. Muslim, Orthodox, Jewish, and Roman Catholic communities existed side by side. While state borders have shifted dramatically throughout the centuries, the historical reality of this multicultural coexistence remains unchanged.

This Polish Nobel winner @OlgaTokarczuk calls Poland’s White streets “terrifying” because everyone looks & speaks the same. Leftists ONLY preach this anti-White insanity in White nations. Never in China. Never in Nigeria. Never in Saudi Arabia or Mexico. Diversity is a code word for “replace the Whites.” Hypocrites.

It is fascinating to see how the boundaries have shifted. Just thirty years ago, public discourse was dominated by human rights, Chinese state propaganda, and the systemic restriction of civil liberties. Today, as China has evolved into a dominant global power, particularly within supply chains, turning a blind eye to these issues has become commonplace; few even maintain the pretense of concern anymore. The question: Does freedom of expression still have a chance of returning to China? If so, what form would that take, and in what direction would the social and political shifts move?

Elon Musk just walked into a geopolitical minefield without saying a single word about politics. While Chinese state media is frantically hyping Musk’s latest post in Mandarin about his son learning the language, they are carefully performing a narrative lobotomy on the actual conversation. The reality is that Musk was replying directly to @whyyoutouzhele, the man better known as Teacher Li. To the CCP, this account is not just a dissident. It is a structural threat to their total control of information. Teacher Li Ying is the primary digital bridge for the truth that the Great Firewall is designed to kill. During the 2022 White Paper protests and beyond, his account became the central hub for raw, unfiltered footage of dissent and government failure that the CCP instantly scrubs from the domestic internet. He is so radioactive to the regime that even mentioning his name on Weibo can trigger an immediate account ban or a visit from local police. Authorities have gone so far as to interrogate people inside China simply for following him on X, labeling it an act of hostility against the state. The current trending topic on Weibo is a masterpiece of informational cowardice. The Party wants to use Musk’s celebrity to project a friendly image of China to the world, but they are terrified of the person Musk is actually engaging with. By celebrating the language while erasing the recipient, the CCP is proving that their control is incredibly fragile. They want the clout of the world’s richest man but cannot risk the Chinese public discovering the one account that consistently proves the state’s propaganda is a lie. #ElonMusk #TeacherLi #Censorship #Weibo #CCP #GreatFirewall #UnveiledChina

I'm traveling the world for a bit, starting with China but then hopping around the globe, anywhere. Open to any adventure. No plans, only a backpack. Hoping to meet & get to know humans from all walks of life. The pic is from a long hike on the Great Wall. For me, as a fan of history, this was an epic experience. In China, first I'm visiting a few big cities & talking to engineers at the heart of China's AI revolution. After that, if feeling crazy enough, I'm hitchhiking (first time) across rural China for a few weeks. Hitchhiking because I think it's the best way to meet rural folks who I would otherwise never get the chance to meet. I hope to do the same in US and other places. I have a request, if you have a travel recommendation, fill out the form(s) below if you feel like it. Or share with folks who might have advice about such travel. Form 1 - travel recommendation: If you can, recommend to me an interesting place I should visit anywhere in the world. For this, fill out form 1. Not touristy stuff, but something off the beaten path, that tourists may not know about, but is legendary. It could be as remote as meeting a herder in the mountains who is a local legend. Asia, Middle East, Europe, India, South/North America, Africa, Australia, anywhere. In China, I'm hoping to visit maybe Heibei, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Gansu, Sichuan, Yunnan, etc, so recommendations for spots to visit are helpful. Form 2 - coffee: If you want to grab a coffee with me anywhere in the world, fill out form 2 (please don't use form 1 for that). Anyway, I hectically tossed stuff in backpack. Realizing I don't have a clear plan of any kind, which is probably the only way to do it. LFG. Love you all ❤️

President Xi’s diplomatic olive branch is tactical de-escalation. It buys time, reassures nervous investors, and tries to blunt the momentum of U.S. export controls and tariffs. Yet the 15th Five-Year Plan reveals the strategic reality. It shows a China that is aggressively preparing for a deeply fragmented world. 'Partners, not rivals' makes for a fine toast at a summit, but Beijing’s own binding domestic policies make the truth plain: the CCP expects, and is systematically preparing for an era of profound global rivalry.

Situated in the Yuzhong District, the Great Hall of the People stands as one of the most magnificent auditoriums built since the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Designed by Zhang Jiade, the complex elegantly incorporates Ming and Qing Dynasty architectural styles. Originally known as the Sino-Soviet Building, it received its current name in 1955. While the initial structure featured only the main hall and the North and South wings, the East wing was added in 1986 to complete the ensemble. Beyond its architecture, the Hall is a witness to history, hosting significant international conferences and major political events. The adjacent People’s Square, added in 1997, serves as a vibrant civic hub where thousands of locals gather daily to relax, dance, and exercise, bridging the city's grand history with its lively modern pulse. Tomorrow morning, China time, this monumental building will be the backdrop for welcoming American guests.

There is a certain irony in the choice. The Temple of Heaven, where emperors once sought divine sanction for a harmonious world order, now serves as the backdrop for negotiations between two powers locked in sustained economic rivalry. For centuries, this was where Chinese emperors conducted the empire’s most sacred rituals, offering sacrifices in pursuit of cosmic legitimacy and social harmony. Here, the emperor stood as the intermediary between human order and divine will. Today, both sides speak the language of modern pragmatism: finalized agreements, expanded trade access, and measurable gains. In this light, the old imperial ideal of tianxia taiping (peace under Heaven) takes on a new, secular resonance: acknowledgment that a stable global order requires both powers to find their place within it. 🍀
