@DrBenLovell Important to also recognise that no one looks great or capable in hospital gown or pyjamas and in bed, get people up and dressed in their own clothes and they suddenly become themselves again! Hair done, teeth in, hearing aid and glasses on...it's magic 🥳

It took me ages to realise that pts look much more frail & unwell when woken up on the morning ward round at 8am, compared to later in the day This is important as we make judgements abt care & whether they’re well enough to go home based on their exhausted & pale 8am appearance

@EM_Dr_Jacklin @mancunianmedic Our virtual health team @HHFTnhs can do that! They facilitated a five way conversation between the Frailty virtual ward, the Frailty Team and a paramedic who was in the house with the patient and their family to develop a shared plan and kept the patient at home 🥳 #teamwork

Words are a powerful thing that can shape views, perceptions, beliefs & expectations. How we talk about patients can dehumanise them & impact how we see them. Think about your words #PatientCare

@Keirwales My favourite experience was when the lady I visited who made me a cup of tea, as she handed it over "I've put a dash of whisky in as it's cold outside" 😳

Visited someone once who offered me tea, presented me with a steaming cup of it and announced "I didn't know if you took sugar or not so I've given you 3" 3??? 3??? 3 'just to be safe' 😮
