Double shared writing today in Y6. Mrs Rudge and I both modelled a report paragraph to give the children two different examples of the tools we are teaching. @Talk4Writing

One in every two summer born disadvantaged boys had a low level of KS1 literacy last year. Among non-disadvantaged pupils, summer born boys were more than twice as likely as autumn born girls to have a low level of literacy. ffteducationdatalab.org.uk/2024/12/low-or…

Perfect timing! @PieCorbett and I are looking for a number of schools to work collaboratively on this whole school (multi-school) writing project. A great way to share the cost and connect with other schools along a proven school improvement journey. Interested? See the post below or head to clusterblogging.net/blog/2024/11/0… to find out more!

🧵 At a 60th party at the weekend and a big reunion of school and teenage friends. Some of which I’d not seen for nearly 40 years. Now, like most teenage circles, there had been a fair few “dalliances” amongst us all back in the day. A chap walks over with his wife. Now I’ve …

A clutch of bejewelled dragon eggs turned up in Y3 this week! Fortunately, ‘The Book of Dragons’ gave us some inspiration. The children have been thinking about what could be lurking inside each one and have written some poems. @PieCorbett @Talk4Writing

Where the heck does this come from?!? Those descriptions of tiers are ok, but the examples are kinda bananas! And It’s NOT ‘tiered vocabulary’! It’s think about words that are broadly useful to kids but likely unfamiliar. Then check in with tiers as a guide.

@margaretmckeow2 It would also be about picking words that had interest, layers of meaning or multiple meanings so that you're broadening chn's vocabulary beyond a list of clothing items. Exploring 'robe' or 'fashion' or 'costume' or 'dressing' would have been much more fruitful.
