Let me get this straight. Howard Lutnick, Trump’s Commerce Secretary, got caught lying about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. Democrats grilled him about it and finally got him to agree to testify before the House Oversight Committee. Four weeks later, Lutnick wrote a $5 million check to the super PAC that funds House Republicans, including members who sit on that committee. Then he showed up for a closed-door interview where, despite pushback from Democrats, no cameras or recordings were allowed. Republicans keep coming back to the same old playbook. They want to privatize Social Security to line the pockets of their Wall Street buddies. That’s flat-out wrong. We need to protect and enhance benefits, not sell them to the highest bidder.

In December, President Trump called for me to be investigated, arrested, and hanged over a 90-second video that restated existing law. My lawyer's advice was straightforward: go quiet. Keep your head down. This will blow over. But in this administration, the reality is that keeping your head down does not keep you safe. Staying quiet when power comes after you does not make the threat go away. It just teaches the people making the threat that it works. When a president can call for the arrest and execution of a sitting senator for quoting the law, and the expected response is silence, that's a problem that goes way beyond me. That affects every American who works in government, every journalist, every ordinary citizen who might speak up. A grand jury of ordinary Americans looked at this situation and said no. They understood what was at stake, and I think most Americans do. We refuse to accept that this is the new normal. This moment isn't really about me. When the administration is willing to go after a senator this way, it sends a message to every American who might speak up. That should concern people in both parties.

Fearing he would target others, she exposed the man publicly. Out of fear, he handed himself in and was remanded. But on appeal, he was released. He is now bailed until a court date in 2027. I really miss this kind of America. Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford ran against each other in 1976. When Ford passed away, Carter gave the eulogy at his funeral. When Carter passed away, Ford’s son Steve spoke at Carter’s funeral. Barack Obama and John McCain ran against each other in 2008. When McCain passed away, Obama gave the eulogy at his funeral. They disagreed. They debated. They fought hard for what they believed in. But at the end of the day, they still saw each other as human beings. As Americans. That is the part we have lost. Somewhere along the way, disagreement turned into hatred. Politics turned into teams. And people forgot that respect does not mean you agree with someone on everything. I still believe we can get back to this. Not because it will be easy. Not because everyone will suddenly think the same. But because America is supposed to be better than this. Bipartisan respect used to be possible. And someday, I pray we remember how to do it again. 🇺🇸💙
