The best coaches do not just tell players what to do. They help them understand why it matters. Kevin O’Connell explains it well here.

Did You Know?...Across all of NAIA Football, an avg of around 70% of a roster is on Athletic Scholarship money! 💰💰💰 That's more than the NCAA D2 avg (55%) and the NCAA FCS avg (65%)! Don't sleep on a great opportunity to play college ball! 💯💯💯 #Battlin' ⚔️🐻

Here are some NCAA Transfer Portal statistics: Only 30% of Division II student-athletes who enter the portal find a new program. Of that 30%, just 33% move up to the Division I level, while 60% remain in Division II. These figures apply to first-time transfers only. Allowing unlimited transfers without restrictions hinders many student-athletes and makes timely graduation far more difficult. The one-time transfer exception often referenced was once the standard rule, and it worked effectively. Coaches at every level, particularly in certain sports, are already experiencing significant burnout due to annual roster turnover. We must regain control of this issue and begin pushing back. While we have adapted - and will continue to adapt - to the "new normal," we risk losing sight of the true value of an education and a degree. College is not a four-year decision - it is a forty-year decision.

Already 3,300 players in the transfer portal, and it hasn’t even OPENED yet for D1. You better have a plan before you enter…

Transfer chaos 3,300 already in the portal before D1 opens. Last Year 2,707 Total D1-D3 Add NAIA+JUCO+Post Grad and you’re near an estimated 5,000–6,000 Before D1. Statically, only 30% find better situations—70% don’t. That’s roughly 4,200 players left without a home.

Outstanding answer - accountability across the organization starts with individual responsibility. Love the integrity of this answer!

I’m very appreciative of Coach Johnson’s transparency and accountability. I asked him about the play calling at the end of the #Bears Field Goal drive, and he answered it straight forward like he always does. A lot of Coaches would get offended, and either dismiss that question with Coach speak or get their ego involved and insecurely double down on their decision.
