Well, I scrolled through the comments here and I’m now convinced that everyone is asleep. I lived in DC for 20 yrs. I have friends that are there right now. There’s crime, no doubt. It’s typical big city crime. Full stop. Local law enforcement isn’t perfect, but this militarization was not requested. It was mandated. They didn’t deploy the National guard during the Floyd protests ffs. Not even on Jan 6, if I recall. So why now? How long until some “crisis” puts Feds in other cities? Trump’s already thrown out NY, San Francisco, and Chicago as next up for federalized control. Yes, yes, I know, they’re gettin the drug dealers and gang members and thieves and illegal immigrants and whatever. Don’t you guys get it? Once you give the govt power like that, they aren’t giving it back. Idc if you’re m a g a or republican or liberal or independent or whatever. This is not a partisan issue. It has nothing to do with Trump or with politics. This is a dangerous slippery slope that can cause us to lose our freedoms. Our God given rights. Our autonomy. The reason America is the greatest country on earth. Be watchful. The govt never does anything without having a bigger plan in mind. They count on our ignorance and our complacency. On 14th & R this morning in DC, officers with vests that said only police detained a man who seemed to have been riding a moped, taking him down as passerby screamed. Officers refused to say what agency they’re with. Their unmarked cars had Maryland plates. @washingtonpost
