“In divided times, New York still finds ways to unite.”
“Dear New York — Grand Central transformed into a living artwork.”
Earlier this evening inside Grand Central Terminal, the walls glowed with life for the closing of Dear New York — a stunning finale to Brandon Stanton’s citywide celebration of art, music, and humanity.
✨ For 2½ hours, looping projections of my sand painting process filled the concourse, woven among portraits and performances from New Yorkers whose stories shaped this moment. Pianist Colin Huggins filled the air with sound, and a youth choir closed the night with soulful renditions of New York anthems.
In a time of deep division across the country, it was a refreshing, celebratory coming together — a reminder of the diverse community that forms the true fabric of this city.
Grateful to have been part of such a beautiful convergence of art, spirit, and connection.
