I couldn’t sleep last night, because I wanted to know why there is a U in Four, Fourteen, Twenty-Four, Thirty-Four, but there is no U in Forty.

It's because it's a different root to the word when you're dealing with multiples of 10. If you expect Forty to be spelt Fourty then you'd expect twenty to be twoty, and thirty to be threety. It's only confusing with Forty because the root of the multiple of 10 is so close to the original number it's derived from. Also the other answers that the English language is just a conglomeration of mucked up rules from every language are valid too... 🤣

@conniecollie1 You recall the old show, “Name that Tune?” It was sort of like that but there was no claim made about how fast & accurate ppl could be. Of course, we were 18-21 so the songs were mostly 70s-80s tunes we heard on radios, in clubs (disco era) and at parties.

@conniecollie1 When I was working my way through school, I had a job with a bunch of others doing the same. We used to play a game similar to the one you do with lyrics. A person would sing a few bars and it was up to the others to guess the tune (name of song & band) as quickly as possible. 🎶

@DumbEinstein @BucksCoDad Look up Ferguson Jenkins. Traded by the Phillies at age 24 for a couple of pitchers that helped them a little. Jenkins went on to have 7, 20-win seasons on his way to the Hall of Fame.

@BucksCoDad To truely become a phillies thing he will now be dealt for next to nothing and go on to have a hall of fame career. No examples I can think of come to my mind but my Dad always says this.

It's such a Phillies thing to have the universal #1 pitching prospect, tell everyone for three years that he's untouchable, and now he's almost worthless.

My video fluoroscopy results are back. My swallowing function remains severely impaired with no clinical improvement. I remain at very high risk of aspiration which could result in severe aspiration pneumonia and be life-ending. Oral intake is no longer safe and cannot be compensated for by diet modification or swallowing strategies. 6 months of photobiomodulation has made no impact. That's the reality. Not the one I wanted, but the one I have. I can't change the report but I can choose how I respond to it. I'll accept what I can't change, keep fighting where I can, and carry on.
