A few things I’ll remember about Darius Slay from his time with the Eagles: ** Him solving the team’s need for a No. 1 CB after not having a true, legit No. 1 CB for a long time prior ** His willingness to work with younger players and help them develop both on/off the field. Did it as much as any player I’ve covered in 15+ years ** The job he did against Justin Jefferson in prime time was one of the best games I’ve seen from an Eagles corner ** The personality he brought to the defense ** He truly enjoyed other players playing well. Some players get jealous or envious of others succeeding. Slay legit really enjoyed watching other CBs or teammates of his do big things. ** How involved him and his wife were with the fan base. I know sometimes his tweets didn’t go over well but not many athletes were more accessible than Slay to the fans
