@Jamiewa50042387 The kids loved his book ‘Masquerade’ at bedtime. Seeing how many things they could spot in the pictures. X

An absolutely fantastic gent and so knowledgeable, fairplay I love meeting folk on this job , a golden hare is worth money but it is the story behind its idea of a treasure hunt that is worth more than gold ,i remember him telling me about how he thought of the idea

@jackwallington Lost more by lifting than I have by leaving in the ground, Gloucestershire . ( note- not lost any in the ground)

I’m starting to think lifting dahlias is a bit of an unnecessary myth - I never lifted any in London and they were all stronger in the ground. Those we grow in heavy wet clay-loam on an exposed site in Yorkshire survive outside too.

Very happy to announce that my podcast episode with @Kate_Bradbury is now live. We were kindly introduced to each other by @PamAyres another writer and passionate lover of wildlife. The link is in the usual place. Thank you Kate. I wish you every success with the book.

Big-cone pine (Pinus coulteri) produces the world's largest pine cones by mass, reported to reach up to half a metre in length, and weigh 5kg. Wow.

@Kate_Bradbury @KneppWilding I walked out into a nearby meadow last week expecting to hear the thrum of insects. Nothing!! On a positive note I think there’s a spotted fly catcher nesting in the garage Ivy. Let’s hope it can find food for its chicks.

@PamAyres Pam I think I recognise the style of these beautiful illustrations.....do you remember a treasure hunt with drawings like these - might only have been in the Cotswolds where I lived. Don't know how it spread without social media, but it really 'took off'......

I have no connection with G H Knight, Cirencester, but they sell the most beautiful, different, selection of things connected with writing. I bought this lovely sketchbook and a journal with wide ruling for my big handwriting. I really hope they succeed. ghknight.net

@jackwallington In my latest podcast episode joffelphick.co.uk/podcast/ I speak to Dick Woods from Finches Friend who has decided to combat the problem of parasite transference on garden bird feeders and has produced several new products that will save a lot of our garden birds from trichomonosis.

There’s growing evidence that feeding birds with feeders creates a hot spot for spreading disease. As far as I’m aware my book A Greener Life was the first gardening publication to say this rather than advise feeding them. Instead stop using pesticides and plant fruiting trees.

My son saw this fallow deer run over from his bus to school. A quick text to alert me & we now have about 20kg of delicious venison in the freezer. Sad, but waste not want not! This is the most sustainable source of meat...
