The difference between the number of US home sellers and buyers is widening: The number of home sellers has now reached 1,922,046, near the highest since March 2020. At the same time, the number of homebuyers fell to 1,413,331, the lowest since April 2020. As a result, the difference between US home sellers and buyers rose to a record 508,715. In other words, there are now 36% more sellers than buyers in the US. By comparison, this gap was just ~7% a year ago. Home price cuts are likely coming next.
