💈 I enjoyed meeting Luigi Caterino, owner of The Italian Job Barbers in Galashiels. 💇🏼‍♂️ Luigi has lived locally for 27 years, and has a great talent. He’s keen to establish a Hair & Fashion Academy in the Borders to train the next generation. ✅ Our local businesses are the lifeblood of communities across the Borders, and it is so important that we support them.

🇬🇧 It was an honour to welcome Chelsea Pensioners Roger and Charlie to Parliament for a tour. They are retired and distinguished British Army veterans. Earlier this year, they welcomed me to their home - the Royal Hospital Chelsea - to learn more about their incredible work supporting fellow veterans and the wider community, and it was a real pleasure to catch up with them again.

I wonder whether Starmer will rush to welcome Burnham back to Parliament? Labour decides when the by-election is held. When Gordon Brown was in trouble in 2009, he delayed the Glasgow North East by-election by five months! Meanwhile, the important issues are ignored.

🚨 This Labour government is in chaos. Distracted from all the important issues that matter, like the cost of living and securing our borders. We deserve so much better than this.

New energy infrastructure in the Borders has gone too far. Enough is enough. That is why I now formally object to new individual planning applications for energy infrastructure in the Borders. The current situation cannot continue.

🥀 Today’s King’s Speech is yet more empty words and promises from Keir Starmer. They are failing because they never had a plan for government. No plan to tackle the cost of living, bring down energy costs, secure our borders, or strengthen defence. Labour is in chaos.

🐶 I was delighted to meet with the Guide Dogs charity to learn more about their work supporting children and young people with vision impairment. Too many children with visual impairment are at risk of being left behind in their education, and it’s vital they get the support they need.

Utterly disgraceful comments from a new Green MSP. Queen Elizabeth II devoted her life to public service and was respected and admired across Scotland and around the world. She contributed more to making our society better than this Green MSP ever will.

🖼️ Wonderful to be invited by Ian James Cowan to see his fantastic artwork on display at the JAG ART 82 exhibition at Paxton House this morning with @Rachael2Win. The detail in Ian’s paintings and drawings is incredible. Ian has a studio in Kelso and teaches regular classes throughout the year. He also provides art classes and workshops for children and adults with learning challenges. It’s well worth a visit, and the exhibition is currently open in the Hayloft Gallery every day from 10am until 3pm.

An honour to remember all those who have lost their lives at the @thefishmish National Fishing Remembrance Day service in St Abbs. Fishing remains one of the deadliest peacetime jobs, and services are being held across the country today to remember those lost.

A difficult result, but our dynamic dozen Scottish Conservative MSPs have the grit to stand up to John Swinney's rotten SNP. My take in today's Scottish Mail on Sunday 👇
