I love the idea and such, but the mistake was vibe coding it which leaves obvious bugs and issues like this.

Please don't use this. It's vibe coded and makes dangerous assumptions like a list of background processes that it assumes are safe, some of which are not safe. I mean quite obviously you should never kill backup software or Windows Update, that is something the user should do.

@Pirat_Nation That's like saying YouTube is responsible for the licensing of music in a YouTube video someone uploads

British music rights organisation PRS for Music is suing Valve, claiming that Valve must pay separate licensing fees for "making available" games that include music from PRS members. The dispute targets games sold or downloaded via Steam that feature such music without Valve holding the required UK licence. Examples cited include Forza Horizon, FIFA/EA FC, and the Grand Theft Auto series.

@HedgieMarkets Although honestly, as said by others, Notepad++ is pretty much the best option to fix this.

@HedgieMarkets The original notepad is hiding in Windows, and you can run it instead of the new one! In [Windows Settings > Apps > Advanced app settings > App execution aliases], you can disable Notepad there and now running notepad from the run dialog will open the old notepad.

🦔 Notepad now requires internet connectivity to keep Copilot integration functional. That connectivity enabled a remote code execution vulnerability with a severity rating of 8.8 out of 10. An attacker can create a malicious Markdown file with specially crafted links. If you open it in Notepad and click a link, a script can download and execute code with your full permissions. My Take For 40 years Notepad was the simplest tool on Windows. No internet connection. No fancy features. No way for hackers to get in. People used it specifically because it was basic, just a place to write text without any complexity getting in the way. Then Microsoft decided it needed AI. To make Copilot work, Notepad now connects to the internet. That connection opened a door that hackers can walk through. If you open the wrong file and click the wrong link, someone can take control of your computer. This is what happens when you add features nobody asked for to products that worked fine without them. Microsoft fired their testing teams years ago, started using AI to write their code, and decided every single application needs Copilot whether users want it or not. Now a text editor, the most basic program imaginable, has the kind of security hole you'd expect in complex software. They took something simple and reliable and made it complicated and vulnerable. I'm not sure that's progress. Hedgie🤗

@Pirat_Nation Discord does not send your information to a third-party company, you do. Also, Persona is a verification service used by not just Discord, but I believe Roblox and VRChat as well. Now, suddenly, Discord is bad for using it? Honestly, I'd rather use Persona than Discord directly.

Discord has been caught lying. Discord caught ditching its current age verification provider for Persona after bypasses appeared everywhere. They promised "facial scans never leave your device" and no uploads, but now they send your IDs and data to a third-party company.

@CuteAdorableCat This looks AI generated. The officer's chuckle is in sync with his mouth movement, but his mouth does not move when he talks after that.

@UiSavior This genuinely makes NO sense at all considering the fact that majority of people access from smartphones and we wont see this with smartphones making it a waste of time for both designers and developers.

I just shared an update on Adobe Animate over on reddit (/r/adobeanimate), and given the conversations on X, wanted to also share here. Its a bit long, as there is a lot of info, so I also included a screenshot of the core info on Animate. TLDR: We have made some changes to to our plans for Adobe Animate, and it will continue to be available for both new and existing users Hey everyone, my name is Mike Chambers, and I work on the community team at Adobe (and am a long time Flash / Animate user). Yesterday, Adobe shared an email with Adobe Animate customers on the future of Animate. What we shared did not meet our standards and caused a lot of confusion and angst within the community. On behalf of Adobe, I want to apologize. While an email to all Animate customers will go out shortly, I wanted to quickly share a few things: 1) our standard approach for applications in maintenance mode, 2) changes to our plans for Adobe Animate and its status, and 3) our commitments to ensuring that you always have access to your content, regardless of the state of development of an application. Standard Approach for Applications in Maintenance Mode If we deprioritize active development of an application, our approach is to move that application into maintenance mode with continued support. Under maintenance mode, the application will continue to be available, will continue to receive security and bug fixes, but will not get new features. If we decide to go a step further and discontinue a product, we will work closely with the community to ensure they have adequate time to plan in order to minimize disruption and will take steps so that the community continues to have long-term access to their content. Current State of Adobe Animate Adobe Animate is in maintenance mode. While we are no longer adding new features to Animate, we will continue to support it and provide ongoing security and bug fixes. More importantly, Animate will continue to be available for both new and existing users. This is a change from what we communicated in the email yesterday for the status of Adobe Animate, its time-frame, and availability. To be clear, we are not discontinuing or removing access to Adobe Animate and it will continue to be available to both existing and new customers. Commitments for long-term content/file Access For Adobe Animate, our commitment is to work with the community to ensure users continue to have long term access to their content, regardless of the state of development of the application. On a personal note, as someone who started their career with Macromedia Flash 3 and Macromedia Generator, Adobe Animate has a special place in my heart. I know how frustrating and stressful this has been and we clearly could have handled and communicated this better. I might not have answers to everything, but I will try to answer any questions you might have.

Not an animator, though I have used Adobe Animate several times before, but if I need software like that, I'm definitely giving Moho a try. Honestly, great move here; discounting their own software so animators have a place to go after the Adobe Animate shutdown.
