Over 5 months after we first discovered Sir Arthur Haselrig’s lost 1650s mansion, it’s finally been covered over! Such a great #Archaeology dig, that’s been loved by students, staff, volunteers and visitors alike. Now to wash my very muddy coat and do some writing up!

@NautArchSoc Maybe if it keeps raining!! I left my snorkel at home, so we’ve had to resort to the ever faithful ‘plastic scoop made from an old milk cartoon’ to get to dry archaeology!

Reuse of heritage will help achieve the Government's housing targets. The redundant textile mills of Yorkshire and Lancashire alone could provide 42,000 new homes. 🏠 Learn more ➡️ bit.ly/ReuseMills

@cmgerrard1 is genuinely one of the best people I’ve ever worked with. Hugely knowledgeable, at the top of his game professionally, but welcoming and generous with his time and expertise. Come hear his stories told with warmth, wit and wisdom (& wine🍷)! @ArcDurham @DUACE2024

Fairly mardy @arrivanortheast driver told me rudely to ‘fold up your pushchair’. Since I’m in no rush, I made a stand. Got off and waited for the next (very friendly) @gonortheast bus. Being as kind as you can is the hill I will get off the bus and wait another 10 minutes upon.

Lovely clay pipe found by Barry, Phil and Martin at Auckland Castle today! Stamped by Thomas Park, from demolition rubble filling an internal doorway between cellars. Our resident clay pipe expert @MAIZR4 says it’s 1662-82, so perfect for John Cousin’s destruction of the house!
