Lot of beautifully written words to read but I'd do anything for one more pint with @richardmoore73. Four years, unfathomably.

Excellent essay on the Oscars, One Battle After Another, and this broken country, by a writer cinephiles and film buffs wouldn’t bother to read

@spencermorgan93 Are you actually capable of supporting your team? When you win you chirp. When things even go slightly against you you are so so negative. Meanwhile accusing Liverpool players - Champions - of match fixing,. You’re a terrible football fan. Irony is your team will win league.

@JoyceCarolOates It's not - so much more interesting than that and one of the greatest endings to a film in recent years ...
English

as I'd said, I had only read the novel to review in the New York Review of Books, & took the occasion to reread most of the others. my favorite McCarthy remains "Suttee"; "No Country" is imagined as a film script, far less richly detailed, monochromatic. much gun lore as if copied from gun magazines. though I love Coen brothers films never have wanted to see this since I expect it's a sort of nonstop "Natural Born Killers" sadism filtered in art.

@festinagirl @JoyceCarolOates The movie was much better than the book; his overly simplistic style gets a bit dull
English

@JackPittBrooke Coverage is so poor a lot of overwrought narration with bigger all actual commentating on what is happening

@JohnDower71 Stunning documentary on the Lockerbie Disaster. No stone unturned. Haven't enjoyed a documentary so much in a long time. Covered both the human and geopolitical angles equally good. Congrats on top work John!

Only the memories of Mike Tyson at his most destructive in sparring can rival the vivid images I carry of the young Ricky Hatton training in an old hat factory. He was utterly lost in boxing. It was pure. Ricky was unforgettable then – and remains so now
