My campaign has been accused of being counterproductive to swifts because it’s competing with another nature campaign. It is not. Cavity nesting birds&their habitat have never been included in any law or policy. Campaigns that are simple&urgently essential are no less valid.

On This Day in Broadcasting History.... 2001 (23 years ago) The BBC splits the London/SE England region into two - Laurie Mayer presented the first edition of "South East Today" from Tunbridge Wells. (Thanks to <otdibh@meldrum.co.uk>, for this info.)

@wildflower_hour I need help with this Umbellifer id, please? Location behind a beachhut - just metres on the land side from the sea, maybe a good clue... Close up flowers are rather beautiful, but leaves maybe the key help... @BSBIbotany

@RichardFoxBC @JWentomologist @AshWhiffin Definitely a glow worm. I would go for L. noctiluca, tho Brock, 2021, say there are 3 genera of three species in BI, so difficult call. Need to get expert coleopterists advice. So just post it as glow worm and seek FI.

Meanwhile downtown a gorgeous and unexpected male 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐅𝐥𝐲𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫 joined the migration party! Normally breeding across Eastern Europe it is a welcome vagrant! (Thanks to #amigo Ricky Owen for news on the Flycatcher!) #FlywayBirding

Sudden in a shaft of sunlight... one of half a dozen Red Admirals feasting on Wild Cherry blossom in a woodland glade on top of the downs today. I think there was a small immigration on Sat 13th.
