@MikeZaccardi @KoyfinCharts If Iran wasn’t happening the big story would be the apparent unwinding of the AI trade. But the media is understandably distracted.

A wild temperature swing! Cooler air is headed our way. Highs will drop 25 degrees tomorrow, only in the low to mid 60s. @FOXNashville

@DecodingFoxNews @atrupar Kentucky got more snow and less ice. Nashville metro is far larger in population than the affected Kentucky areas. I think NES did a decent job considering how many trees were down and how cold it was.

@atrupar Kentucky is handling this a lot better. I’ve been to both states. I grew up across the river in Missouri. They have extremely similar terrains and a lot of sparsely populated areas. Kentucky figured it out. Tennessee is a mess.

Has Tennessee gone a long stretch without a major, widespread outage? This level of disruption feels typical for certain disasters. In New England, tropical systems can knock power out for a week+. The Gulf states deal with the same after hurricanes. Texas sees it during severe cold, and parts of the Midwest after major wind events. Are there places where even rural areas, not just big cities, usually get electricity restored faster than **a week** after a regional disaster?

Just passed 152 hours with power out and this is the stuff they show us bro I am having a hard time finding any more hope man I am just hopeless at this point.

@NbergWX There’s probably a heat island effect that wasn’t there way back then making it difficult to get that cold urban areas.

FLORIDA COLD: With all this talk of record extreme cold this coming weekend, wanted to give you a glance back at the coldest temp ever observed in Florida. On February 13, 1899. Only time any temperature below 0 was recorded in the state and that was Tallahassee. Orlando got to 20 degrees. We could come close early next week. All time Orlando record is 18°F from December 29, 1894.

@SumnerSevereWx My Ring app blew up about an hour ago. NES apparently took down some customers to make repairs on East Main.

Just checking in on everyone 🤍 Today’s highs may sneak just above freezing for some spots, but don’t let that fool you, gusty winds up to 20 mph will keep it feeling bitter cold. Please continue to bundle up and take it slow. The encouraging news: power outages are down to about 15,000, and crews are still out there working hard in tough conditions. Progress is happening, even if it feels slow. If you’re warm today, please check on someone who might not be. Bring pets inside, keep layers on, and make sure friends, family, and neighbors are okay, especially the elderly. I’m here with you through all of this, sharing resources, warming center info, and updates as we get them. We’re a strong community, and we will get through this together. 💙 Take care of yourselves and each other.

So some of you are saying that you are seeing puddles and rain. Get this, a friend from the NWS said that the rain rates are so impressive that it is still freezing rain that some of the droplets are struggling to freeze!! That’s crazy!

A long duration of freezing rain is likely this evening into early Sunday morning. The saving grace (for some) will be a time Sunday morning/early afternoon where temperatures climb just above freezing. Nashville *may* see that briefly, but biggest concern for ice remains W I-65

Hey Sumner County Fam! Just checking in on everyone. How are y’all holding up? Hanging in there, okay? If you’re seeing freezing rain or sleet, I’d really appreciate reports. What’s falling right now? Is it sticking to trees, roads, cars, or power lines? Your reports help paint the real-time picture and help everyone stay safer. Drop your location + Photo + what you’re seeing in the comments. We get through these things together. Stay safe, stay warm, and keep your head on a swivel.
