Sumo tourney ended leaving mixed feelings. Kirishima returned to Ozeki, well deserved. But Yokozuna Onosata withdrew due to suckdom, Yokozuna Hoshoryu was ineffective, and drew the publicly expressed ire of sumo chairman. Young'ns did well! May tourney will be interesting.

Real Industry News: In the face of increasing rice prices, Gekkeikan in Japan will release a junmai-shu with a seimai buai of 84%, deliberately milling it less – but keeping it tasty. Clever and courageous. I honestly look forward to tasting this. 13-14% alc, Y770 900ml carton.

Today is the middle day of this 15-day sumo tourney in Osaka, and what an upheaval. Enjoying the high level of competition but two of the top rankers are taking some lumps. That's all I'm sayin'. It will be fun to follow it all in the second week and see how it all shakes out.

Sumo begins today, in Osaka. The two Yokozuna will be hungry, and of course Ozeki Aonishiki, who just keeps rolling with ever-increasing momentum, will get promoted to Yokozuna in record time if he wins it all. Not to be missed! Poke around; you’ll find recordings somewhere.
