The British monarchy is one of the most powerful soft power assets in the world.
When King Charles III speaks on a global stage, he does so above party politics, with history, culture and credibility behind him.
You can’t manufacture that. You can’t elect it. And you certainly can’t replace it.
That’s why it’s respected worldwide.

The language of development is the most sophisticated imperial vocabulary ever constructed.
"Good governance."
"Institutional capacity."
"Enabling environment."
"Civil society strengthening."
"Participatory approaches."
"Country ownership."
"Evidence-based policy."
All of it sounds collaborative.
All of it sounds technical.
All of it sounds like it is about the poor country's self-determination.
None of it changes who sets the conditionalities for the loans.
None of it changes who controls the international financial architecture.
None of it changes whose currency is the global reserve.
None of it changes whose subsidized agricultural exports destroy the market for the small farmer in the country being "developed."
The language is designed to make power invisible by describing its operations in the vocabulary of partnership.
Partners, by definition, are equals.
No one in the room is equal.
But the language of partnership makes it impolite to point this out.
Which is, of course, the function of the language.

All anyone can say is 'longest reign' etc. That's not an achievement. It's simple arithmetic. She was given a job for life when she was 25 and kept her job for life, for a life that lasted until she was 96. Secrecy, deference and a habit of doing/saying nothing kept her there.

Starter jobs are essential, but are being priced out of existence.
I pulled pints to put myself through university, and did the overnight doughnut run at Aulds the Bakers when I was home in Greenock.
We should not deny young Scots today the opportunities to earn.

Percentage of British schoolchildren at University: 1960: 5% 1980: 15% 2025: 52% Most Universities provide literacy/numeracy lessons today. Why the drive to get 50% of schoolchildren into University? Because they are Far-Left Political Indoctrination Centres. Change my mind.

@PWestoff I'm having a laugh .....which your post deserved. But if you're seriously asking, I lecture (and university teach) students to think critically for themselves and to seek to distance their academic theorising from their (and their culture's) potential ideological biases.
