We've all gotten used to being able to tell AI-generated stuff, but as it gets better and less distinguishable from human-generated, people will still think they can tell, but they'll be wrong half the time.

If I am not mistaken, Plato speaks about dreams in The Republic in the same way that Freud later did when he said he was probing his unconscious. Certainly Freud integrated "the unconscious" into public opinion in ways beyond Plato's reach.

@JohnMeuser The modern notion of the unconscious involves a critical pattern: I & not I. This pattern goes at least as far back as the late 17th century with the work of Leibniz. Neither Plato nor for example the Gnostic traditions which talked of ἀγνωσῐ́ᾱ had our concept of unconscious.
