@Tallawanta @JohnMully46 Did some interesting market research into cotton defol couple of years ago. Does anyone budget on shutting down the crop in order to keep enough day degrees for defol? If so, how many? Or just push as hard as possible for yield &worry about defol later with whatever temp is left?

@LFelmingham RFI folding brackets - much better than GME. Had one of those and it lasted 30k km. had 8 RFI's on 4 cars and they have done 500k km collectively so far (a lot of rough road included) and no failures

Another bracket bites the dust. I don’t want to weld one on but I’m heading that way. Has anyone found a decent aerial bracket to suit arb pipe. I have used stainless, and alloy …. Not getting much life out of them.

The Narran has almost stopped running for the first time since mid November '21. Couldn't get through it until a month ago. Never had a run like it since I've been here ('94)

@HoolyMcg @cosfarming @DamianHarris12 @teakhill Yep definitely Pigs. Apparently they can travel up to 40km/night if they have to. Had a client just recently up here where they made a proper mess in barley. Nests everywhere in a short space of time.

160-250mm overnight across the farm. So pleased we planted all these fields to cotton earlier in the week 😬. And don’t think we’ll be harvesting any time soon! #moist #moree

@isobelroe So the BOM will still be called the BOM, and they've wasted taxpayers money doing just that. Who's responsible at the BOM for this shambles?

@summitagconsult I've found that heavier covering chain (with a pull about 600mm wide mounted on presswheels) tends to pull the raised edges off hills and drag more dry dirt over the trench. Providing trench is narrow and seed is at base of trench germination is ok - just need to watch depth

Finding issues with open seed slots this planting. Disc openers cutting a seed trench through mud and press wheels unable to close the slot. Leading to issues like seed dry back and chemical entering the trench. What planter adjustments have you made to counteract this issue?

@PaulMacAHRI_PUL Haven't been able to get a soil test in there Paul - been wet since November, so guessing very low after 2 winter crops. Urea was planned for the winter crop, and will be needed if sorghum goes in - how that will be applied yet to be decided!!

Certainly is a grain sorghum possibility . How much nitrogen in mg/kg do you have in the profile John?.
John Mulholland@JohnMully46

@PaulMacAHRI_PUL The peak is still 4-5 days away Paul, then another one about a week or so later - going to be tough to get this one in for winter even with a short wheat. May end up sorghum yet
