@DrakeFantasy @FFHustle It’s cool. We’re at the original one in Billund, Denmark. My oldest is 3 and there were plenty of things to keep him engaged. I’m not really a Lego guy… I still found it pretty sweet.

Long week for #Broncos ahead of massive Week 11 game against Chiefs. One small idea to jumpstart offense: Eliminate Tyler Badie snaps. JK Dobbins takes over pass protection, pass-down role. Get RJ Harvey at least half the base snaps. Feels like a very thin 8-2, even with dominant defense. QBs Broncos have beat this season: Week 1: Cam Ward Week 4: Jake Browning Week 5: Jalen Hurts Week 6: Justin Fields (barely) Week 7: Jaxson Dart (barely) Week 8: Dak Prescott Week 9: CJ Stroud/Davis Mills Week 10: Geno Smith

The news that ESPN BET is winding down is pretty straightforward and needs no new analysis. You'd think the concept of non-gaming entities with big audiences transitioning into sports betting operators is dead for now. IMO, the DFS/props market evolution since the tweet below (17 months) is noteworthy: *FanDuel has seemingly become more engaged in DFS, which has been a pleasant surprise. Not completely giving up I think was a smart move given the relatively insignificant cost of doing so and the benefits of keeping hardcore fantasy players engaged + future optionality. *PrizePicks sold a majority stake to a legacy gaming operator, strongly signaling that pick'em seems on relative solid footing from a regulatory perspective. Very impressive, super focused execution by PP, which gets to a ~multi-billion dollar exit. *Underdog appears all-in on becoming a super app for sports -- sportsbook launches, prediction markets, $1b+ valuation fundraising. This is go very big or go home. Doesn't appear to be investing significantly in draft games or at all in DFS. Nothing is overly surprising, but disappointing from a fantasy sports POV. There were paths a few years ago where UD might have kept a narrow focus on being the best place to play all types of fantasy sports. But that's a much smaller opportunity than what they're going for. *DraftKings made a big push in Best Ball this past offseason, with prizepools becoming at a minimum competitive with UD. This makes a lot of sense to me, as it's a rounding error financially while keeping players engaged in the summer months leading up to NFL season. *Generally, we're seeing continued expansion of different forms of fantasy sports/props. There's seemingly more pick'em/sweeps/prediction market operators by the month, expanding the amount of ways to bet on player performance. I think the biggest question right now is "how will all of these formats converge over time?" There are numerous ways customers can bet on players, and lots of places you can go to do it. I suspect that the eventual market leaders continue to evolve into super apps that offer ~everything under one roof -- which I'm sure is informing FD/UD/DK's strategies above. The complicated part is how to manage all of this given regulatory uncertainty, different risk tolerance profiles of various entities, and the operational complexity of building everything out.

This is essentially proof that a massive sports audience and A+ brand recognition are not sufficient to compete with DK/FD in the US sportsbook market. Which begs the question, what is? Most people point to product. But true product differentiation is really hard for many reasons and I continue to be skeptical many, if any, can even match, much less outcompete DK/FD there in the long term. I think UD has the best chance, though. If I were them I would strongly consider trying to become the number one or two traditional DFS operator as FD has clearly given up there while DK has much bigger ambitions and is clearly milking their DFS business to reinvest elsewhere. It will take a long time, but could see the UD brand being a strong number three overall in the same way FD/DK built their businesses.
