MASS STRIKE TODAY Tue 14-Mar-26: public school teachers. Victoria, Australia Teachers must build rank and file committees which are independent of the union bureaucracy and unite with other educators and other world. The lessons of the 2022 betrayal must be studied and assimilated. MUST READ: … While the AEU (teachers’ union) leadership has attempted to clothe itself in militant rhetoric, claiming it will go “full throttle” for a 35 percent wage increase, teachers must view these declarations with extreme distrust. … To understand the scale of the betrayal [by the AEU in 2022], one need only compare the AEU’s 2021 Log of Claims with the final outcome. In 2021, the union pledged to fight for a 7 percent annual wage rise, class size caps of 20 students and a reduction of face-to-face teaching to 18 hours. Instead, the 2022 agreement delivered a real wage cut. The union claimed a 2 percent annual increase, but the fine print revealed this was split into 1 percent instalments every six months, so the actual annual rise was only 1.5 percent, while inflation approached 7 percent and essential costs such as housing and food rose even faster. Trotsky, July, 1940. On Zionism "The attempt to solve the Jewish question through the migration of Jews to Palestine can now be seen for what it is, a tragic mockery of the Jewish people. Interested in winning the sympathies of the Arabs who are more numerous than the Jews, the British government has sharply altered its policy toward the Jews, and has actually renounced its promise to help them found their “own home” in a foreign land. The future development of military events may well transform Palestine into a bloody trap for several hundred thousand Jews. Never was it so clear as it is today that the salvation of the Jewish people is bound up inseparably with the overthrow of the capitalist system." "Israeli society has gone full fascist. It's like Berlin 1930." Abby Martin describes her horrifying experience in Jerusalem where every single person she spoke to espoused casual genocidal rhetoric against Palestinians. The footage speaks for itself.

Free Mehmet Türkmen! The arrest of this independent union leader in Turkey is an attack on the entire working class. Workers must reach out across borders and build networks of solidarity. An injury to one is an injury to all. Read my full statement: willforuawpresident.org/statements/fre…

Yesterday I presented the new German-language edition of Mehring Verlag's Wohin geht Amerika, Faschismus oder Sozialismus? [Where is America Going: to Fascism or Socialism] at the Leipzig Book Fair. There was immense interest in the book, reflecting concern over US developments.

Clara Zetkin, 1923 "... Fascism ... is not the revenge of the bourgeoisie in retaliation for proletarian aggression against the bourgeoisie, but it is a punishment of the proletariat for failing to carry on the revolution begun in Russia. Fascism (Clara Zetkin, August 1923) marxists.org/archive/zetkin… .... Hitherto Fascism has been put on a level with the White Terror of Horthy in Hungary. Although the methods of both are similar, in essence they are different. The Horthy Terror was established after the victorious, although shortlived, revolution of the proletariat had been suppressed, and was the expression of vengeance of the bourgeoisie. The ringleaders of the White Terror were a quite small clique of former officers. Fascism, on the contrary, viewed objectively, is not the revenge of the bourgeoisie in retaliation for proletarian aggression against the bourgeoisie, but it is a punishment of the proletariat for failing to carry on the revolution begun in Russia. The Fascist leaders are not a small and exclusive caste; they extend deeply into wide elements of the population. ...
