No dog in this fight but this is a hysterical misunderstanding of value in the game of baseball, from a guy who makes sure everyone knows he knows everything consistently.
PCA could hit .100 & his glove would alone would make it impossible for him to be a "below avg player"

PCA is undeniably a great athlete. He's great at defense, a facet of the game that is fun to watch but not nearly as valuable as the focus of the game: hitting. PCA can hit well in short stretches, but he mostly sucks at it. He's got a lot of hype but he is a below average player. Caleb Williams is undeniably a great athlete. He's great at running, a facet of the game that is fun to watch but not nearly as valuable as the focus of the game: passing. Caleb can make some great throws, but he is one of the least accurate QBs in football and he spends at least 50 mins of each game being a significant detriment to the offense. He's got a lot of hype because of a few lucky plays at the end of games, but he is CURRENTLY a below average QB.

@JoeA_NFL Problem is they don't seem to prioritize swing and miss & dominating hitters from the mound. So gotta be able to field the ball put in play. Cabrera is probably a sign they're looking off of that though. Cubs with another dominant arm or two become a really fun team quickly

The cubs infuriate me because they have the money to be as fun and dominant as the Mets or Dodgers but they insist on building a defense-first team full of super boring white guys like Ian Happ and Nico Hoerner and Dansby Swanson and now Alex Bregman who all play the exact same, middle-of-the-order type of game.
Everyone makes decent contact with decent power and no one is awesome at anything with the bat.
And again, I know that all the leading minds disagree, but I personally feel like defense is overrated. I'm probably very wrong.
But the result is the most expensive and consistent route to 85 wins a year and missing the playoffs to the fucking BREWERS.
