I think if YouTube is using these poll results to narrow down where they do manual reviews for AI slop channels, that's a good thing. If the poll results affect videos algorithmically, NO thank you, slippery ass slope.

I'm not entirely sure this is the right approach, tbh. Alongside the rise in AI slop content, there's been a huge rise in AI paranoia, and I'm very curious how exactly YouTube will use these poll results.

@StevenCenname @JaydenLibran Leaving Frankenweenie and pushing out Pirates is insane, and there’s no world where I’d push out TS4 before Missing Link or HTTYD3 personally. Weathering With You probably was my favorite that year though

@Johnny2Cellos @JaydenLibran I would’ve pushed out Pirates in 2012 for Rise of the Guardians. TS4 getting nominated over Promare and Weathering With You is a complete joke. I’d put those two in and take out the two sequels nominated that year.

Potentially unpopular opinion, but these two films winning in their respective years felt the most out of place for me.

@kidwolfopowers @JaydenLibran Personally I just can’t comprehend not feeling the emotional punch of TS4, but I’ve noticed that it seems to resonate more with slightly older audiences. Which makes sense given the themes.

@Johnny2Cellos @JaydenLibran I think of egregious misses as more than just “best movie doesn’t win.” But the winner is something that arguably was far from being worthy of a nomination in the first place. If The Boss Baby beat Coco, that’d be egregious.

@kidwolfopowers @Johnny2Cellos Another factor guiding this is how timeless the movie is. TS4 feels dated already, and in terms of its spot in the Toy Story filmography, feels unnecessary and forgettable. Klaus and I Lost My Body are easily rewatchable.

@JaydenLibran I get ya, for me there just isn’t really anything in TS4’s year that I think stands out. I Lost My Body is neat and Klaus is pretty charming, but I don’t think there’s any obvious “THIS SHOULD HAVE WON” nominees that year

@Johnny2Cellos By the way, I don't disagree with you or your metrics for judging films. I would have voted for The Wind Rises myself. But for me, Toy Story 4 is like your Frozen.

@JaydenLibran I mean I guess this kinda just boils down to how you subjectively view the category should be awarded. Obviously Frozen was a cultural phenomenon and a solid film and the win wasn’t a surprise. But The Wind Rises is one of the best films ever in the category.

@Johnny2Cellos Frozen on the other hand was expected, largely due to it being more on the side of a cultural phenomenon. It was also during a time when the voters were heavily leaning towards letting their kids vote for them.
