@Skydance_1 @DiscussingFilm This isn't simply "creative decision", they clearly wanted to get rid of him because they think his character is toxic because of that 2011 movie. Hence we go back to my original question why is he still treated that way because of that movie yet Blue Beetle and Supergirl aren't?

@Skydance_1 @DiscussingFilm Did you read anything I said? I didn't say a word about John, I said what they're doing to Hal. Why can't Hal co-exist with John in future DCU projects like Guy? Why is he turned old and dies right away(his actor is contracted for 1 season only).

@Skydance_1 @DiscussingFilm You don't need to sabotage Hal to tell John's story. The GLs are about working together for a common goal, while the premise of the show is "replacement" and "stepping aside". It's clearly punishment. This is their final nail in the coffin of a character they ruined 15 years ago.

@JohnnyRedguy @DiscussingFilm Why do you see it as punishment instead of a creative decision. The writers of lanterns wants to tell a john Stewart's story. Why is that such a bad thing? Also we don't even know if he dies in this show.

@CeltiC527 Think about it, for 15 years Hal was punished for the failure of one movie, constantly mocked and shunned from DC media, until he's reimagined as an old man whose sole purpose is to die to make someone else look good. Yet Supergirl and Blue Beetle get rewarded for their failures.

The more characters that get added to this movie, the more it makes me sad Hal is being left out of it. I know based on the rumors Hal could be done after Lanterns but we still don’t know that for sure. Maybe he’ll show up down the road but it would’ve been cool to see him in MOT

Man of Tomorrow really does feel like the DCU's equivalent to Civil War, where the central character isn't lost in all the massive worldbuilding around it I have confidence in the Gunn to deliver this Justice League soft launch as one of the most epic, fun DC film events ever

@Skydance_1 @DiscussingFilm lol Ok say there's a "twist" and he dies in the last episode, not the 1st. And? He's still an old man introduced just to die so they can prop up the other guy at his expense. He's still punished for a 15 year old movie, while these characters get rewarded for their failures. Why?

@homeofdcu Why didn't Hal Jordan get the same treatment after his movie bombed? He was mocked and shunned from DC media for 15 years before being reintroduced as an old man who dies in the 1st episode of an 8 episode limited series. Yet BB and Supergirl get rewarded for their failures. Why?

@iAmBrookBanks @SupesBatsy That already happened in the BMP animated movie where they pissed all over Hal to prop up John. Didn't seem to work since it's the lowest grossing movie in that shitty animated universe, but they still did it to prove a point. This show won't be the first time they've done it. 🤷

@JohnnyRedguy @SupesBatsy Now, if I watch episode one and Hal dies and John pisses on his dead body, then Yeah I’ll agree with you. But I’m gonna wait to see what happens. They could even kill him in Lanterns and then go back and make Lantern War movie set in the past. It doesn’t have to be linear

@iAmBrookBanks @SupesBatsy They treated him poorly since the moment they announced his casting. Then by saying the story is about replacement and stepping aside, then continued by the one-sided marketing that shamelessly favors John, and now the spoilers confirm it. They've done nothing but disrespect him.

@JohnnyRedguy @SupesBatsy I’m not patronizing and I’m not gaslighting. I love Green Lantern and I like Hal. Acting like he’s being treated poorly or being humiliated in this show, that you haven’t seen and don’t know what happens in, is ridiculous. Again, even if he dies, that doesn’t equal disrespect.

@iAmBrookBanks @SupesBatsy Gaslighting won't work on me. Like I said, it's very convenient for you to tell Hal fans how to feel about how he's being treated when you don't care about the character. Don't even try to patronize when you don't give a damn what happens to the character one way or the other.

@JohnnyRedguy @SupesBatsy I’m sorry your mind is so closed that you won’t be able to enjoy what will very likely be a well written and enjoyable show that really does each character justice and makes them look great.

@iAmBrookBanks @SupesBatsy You go back to how you personally feel about Hal, that I said I don't care about. We have all the info we need to know what we'll get: he's old, he "dies", he's not contracted for more seasons or films, the marketing is entirely focused on the other guy. I won't support this.

@JohnnyRedguy @SupesBatsy You are assuming a lot about something you literally can’t know about until you see it. Green Lantern stories are better when Hal Jordan isn’t the main character. I think this show will follow that trend.

@iAmBrookBanks @SupesBatsy If Chandler was in his 30s or 40s, sure. There's nothing perfect about casting a 60 yo Hal. Parallax only "worked" cause the audience was already invested in Hal and he was the protagonist. Nothing works with him being introduced as an old flashback character who dies right away.

@JohnnyRedguy @SupesBatsy “What they do to him” They cast literally the perfect Hal Jordan. He’s going to be great in the show. Dying in a comic book story means nothing and doesn’t mean you’re gone forever. His death could lead to Spectre or even the Parallax storyline.

@iAmBrookBanks @SupesBatsy On the other hand both him and Lindelof said they *are* fans of Hal, yet look what they do to him. It might be a very good thing they won't get their hands on Kyle. I do envy you in that regard.

@JohnnyRedguy @SupesBatsy My favorite Green Lantern is Kyle Rayner by far. Gunn has said publicly he’s not a fan of Kyle. I’ll probably never get the Green Lantern project I actually want but I can still appreciate perfect casting and a story that will likely set up the Lantern universe for years to come.

@iAmBrookBanks @SupesBatsy Good for you. Very convenient to enjoy something about a character you don't care for, but good for you. Just don't tell those of us that do care about him how to feel about what they're doing to him, since I think you wouldn't appreciate it if the shoe was on the other foot.

@benardonhard @GoodNightDrew @ColeGib08540801 Seems like there's a pattern here, eh sport? They either make sure to sabotage other GLs(usually Hal) for your fave's sake, give him their stories since he has none of his own to adapt, or have him surrounded by other superheroes to spare him from carrying a product on his own.

@benardonhard @GoodNightDrew @ColeGib08540801 Clearly they don't fuck w John too when he's never carried anything on his own. JLU had ensemble cast where he shared the spotlight with 6 heroes first, then 60 later. BMP had a shared universe and bombed. Here he's in a show with other GLs, then a movie with other heroes again..

@RealColorWarrio @benardonhard @GoodNightDrew @ColeGib08540801 You neither speak for what the "GA" knows, nor do any of us know what anyone would tune in for. I simply gave an example of how absurd that guy's claim was, considering his fave has never carried any GL media product either.

@iAmBrookBanks @SupesBatsy Except that film wasn't *trying* to sabotage him. This is and they're not remotely subtle about it.

@JohnnyRedguy @SupesBatsy I still don’t understand how Hal dying is “sabotaging” his character? I would argue the Ryan Reynolds film was a much worse attempt to sabotage the character.

@iAmBrookBanks @SupesBatsy We're not talking about your subjective opinions, we're talking about what they're objectively doing to get rid of him in order to prop someone else at his expense. If he's so bad, why make sure to sabotage him in the first place?? Why even use him at all.

@JohnnyRedguy @SupesBatsy Because there are better Green Lantern characters. And better Green Lantern stories to be told than ones about Hal Jordan. I like him better as the Spectre.
