Filip investing in space startups
Every new space company ever: "Let's move to place ABC which is giving us such great subsidies." A year later "Oh. we weren't able to find 100 qualified space hardware engineers in this place with no talent base/remote town in Scotland/extremely HCOL city with no space industry" "Let's move to an actual hub" "Who could have seen that coming"

What are we building at AnySignal? 1) An RF platform touching every layer to maximize performance and probability of mission success. 2) An amazing team of system thinkers and builders. 3) A Culture that builds on with first principles and ships. I'm excited to start sharing more about the successes we've been stacking up, quietly. anysignal.medium.com/anysignal-what…

@fikocian Definitely! I've never paid myself - all of our good meetings are outside of the conference.

@Tim_X94 @BreakingDefense $RKLB only silver lining I see is CesiumAstro (+others) becoming a cheaper acquisition. Beck already forecasted industry consolidation in '25, think this would expedite it. Also would increase urgency for getting own const. in place (though still reliant on Neutron cadence ramp)

$RKLB Air Force considers canceling SDA's future Transport Layer satellite competitions, tapping SpaceX instead for global data transmission. Part of an 8% budget shift; no final decision made, per AF spokesperson. Unfortunately @BreakingDefense is quite a reliable source with a lot of good contacts in the industry. What's more worrying as a shareholder is that although less likely is that even Rocket Lab's $500 million (and others) awarded Tranche 2 contracts are apparantly under consideration of getting axed, although would face termination costs. Still I think cancelling Tranche 3 is more likely scenario, but that would also really cancel Rocket Lab's future revenue ramp from a space systems perspective. Must complement Elon Musk with this 4D chess move. He is really effectively eliminating SpaceX competition and the space industrial base, providing good capabilities to the US government and saving the American taxpayers a lot of money. Longer term moves like these make the US military even more dependent on SpaceX, meaning more influence for Musk & co. Not so long ago the military was worried about that. Shifting priorities with the new admin. Anyway it's a powerful combo, that's hard to deny. Ethically questionable, business wise very effective! Here the full quotes from the article: "The potential shift, part of the 8 percent budget drill ordered by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, was recommended by the Space Force in order to protect the service’s other high-priority efforts, according to one industry and one government source." "The Department of the Air Force is considering a plan in which the Space Development Agency (SDA) would cancel upcoming competitions for its future Transport Layer satellites in favor of tapping SpaceX to provide the capability to rapidly transmit large amounts of data around the globe, two sources told Breaking Defense." "It is unclear whether the Air Force proposal involves canceling the contracts for Tranche 2, or only affects the next-generation Tranche 3 birds that have yet to be be contracted out." "An Air Force spokesperson told Breaking Defense today that no decisions had yet been made about SDA’s funding for future Transport Layer satellites."

@E_Bruxxx I once heard about this company that got sued for reinventing aerospace (infrastructure) with only $5M of seed funding... big bags under the eyes

Most VCs prioritize capital efficiency. Unfortunately, you're not going to reinvent aerospace, semiconductors, or robotics with a $5M seed round and a few scrappy engineers. Big problems require big bags.

The only thing I see is wasted link margin. We should convert this into something more useful 🤔 Props to those who understand my cryptic RF posts and know where I'm going with this..
