Today, I welcomed Minister Wang Yi to Canada. The Minister’s visit was the first visit of a Chinese Foreign Minister in over ten years, and an important step in our bilateral relationship. We agreed that Canada will be a country of honour at the China International Import Expo, and committed to meet at least annually as foreign ministers to work closely to resolve sensitive issues. We also agreed collaborate in key industries like agriculture, clean tech, energy and manufacturing, and re-open a dialogue on national security concerns. I also announced a Canadian creative industries trade mission to China in the Fall.   Communication between our governments is vital, which is why Minister Wang Yi and I agreed to meet again at the ASEAN summit in July.
