***INCLUSION***
Inclusion isn’t just one room or in
addition to our provision it is woven into our school tapestry.
Quality first teaching is at the heart of this so every student feels empowered to thrive.
Good teaching for students with SEND is
good teaching for all and that additional interventions cannot be at the detriment of access to consistent good quality everyday teaching.
What are we doing to build a fully inclusive culture?

This makes no sense!

One is a penalty and one isn't. No consistency whatsoever

It’s been interesting seeing the posts and threads on behaviour.
We use the phrase
- ‘Connect before you correct’ -
A potential scenario in high schools is a student wearing a coat inside when the rule is no outdoor coats.
“Tom, are you okay?”
“Yes, sir. Why?”
“You have your coat on inside the building when the rule is no outdoor coats”
“I couldn’t be bothered to carry it”
How would you deal with this in your school? 👀⬇️

Tears man, I actually can’t be asked anymore.
2 of the same incidents in 2 weeks with 2 completely different outcomes.
Arsenal denied a clear penalty, the reffing in the country STINKS ❌

Last week Sanchez got a touch on the ball but it was still a red card and foul. We get consistently robbed by the PGMOL.

Banning mobile phones in Dutch secondary schools has positive impact:
➡️ 75 % observe better concentration
➡️ 59 % note a more positive social atmosphere
➡️ 28 % see enhanced academic performance.
➡️ special educational settings saw benefits too
Primary schools, which already had low phone use, reported modest benefits, 23 % noticed improved pupil wellbeing and classroom climate, with minimal enforcement issues
However, nearly half cite increased workload for policy enforcement, and some report rises in disruptive behaviour.

✍️✍️ New blog from me - The first in a long time and one of three in a series on Adaptive Teaching. This one looks at what adaptive teaching is and what this might look like during explanations and modelling. ✍️✍️ innerdrive.co.uk/blog/adaptive-…

*New post!* Choral response & 'I Say You Say' are two techniques I use with high frequency during my explanations. Although they seem simple, there is a lot of thinking behind them. bunsenblue.wordpress.com/2025/02/08/cho…

As a SENDCO, you need to know what is going on in class. You need to make sure students are receiving quality-first teaching. You need to be able to diagnose where this isn’t happening so you can support teachers to develop their practice.

This is splendid for two and a half minutes of teaching. Ratio, assessment and habits of attention all 👌
