based. i dipped my hoof into this part of the community, not due to my own interest (i tend to live under a rock sometimes and had not even *heard* of it before), but to satisfy the wants of someone i met when i was at a very mentally low point of my life. this person is not mentally well, and gave me a bit of a bad taste of the 'babyfur' community i had some other friends at the time who unbeknownst to be were also part of this community, and I thought maybe this could be a crowd i fit in with more, cause i tend to be the odd one out (yes, even among furries 😭) due to my more quiet observational nature and autism now that i am in a much better place in my life, i have grown distant from all of these people, not from any action of my own, but from actually setting boundaries for myself, which instantly seemed to push all of these people away. that alone is kind of a worrying sign of more predatory behavior. i am not claiming anything about anyone, i am just speaking to my lived experience. more recently, i have tried to engage with the wider 'babyfur' community a bit, thinking that maybe i would find some genuine connections i can't say i found what i was looking for, instead things seemed to be walled off especially in terms of the convention. and when every single connection i have had in this space has been uncomfortable for me in one way or another, i am deciding now that i am fully bowing out of being involved in that community at all. i have gotten a few art pieces. there are some massively talented artists in that scene!! although i think any furry art should depict adult characters. as i always try to do in life i just assumed good intentions in people. treated those with respect who believed in age regression and whatever. but i just, with how sexually charged in general those who were born with testosterone are, i cannot stand by art that depicts their characters as minors in any form. i am sorry if the above comes off as offensive, or transphobic, or hypocritical because i have unfortunately gotten art like that. but it speaks to my experience. the fandom has sex as a core part of its identity, not that everyone chooses to engage with that side of it. barq is literally a hookup app (but also a great way to meet people and that is what i use it for!!) When a creator like 'Skyla' who i only became aware of recently, can send a tweet with the words 'I know you're not pedophiles. Be open and keep being adorable 🩵', and then be ARRESTED FOR BEING AN IRL CHILD PREDATOR, i think the community as a whole lost the right to the card 'i just like seeing my character that way because its cute' (which was always how the friend who introduced me to this talked about it and whom i have trust issues with) not to mention, i am very environmentally conscious. when an entire community bonds around wearing garments that are extremely wasteful and fill up landfills to an extraordinary degree compared to other daily products, someone needs to call out how obscenely wasteful that is. yet these communities encourage each other to wear them more and more, go '24/7', etc. there is an inherent addiction to the kink. as much as we like to put ourselves on a pedestal, we are all simple survival based mammals at our core. the connection to our youth is the essence of safety and security, and in 2026 we all are yearning for that. but based on my experiences with people involved in this space, observations online, and my own personal experience, I can say for a fact that wearing diapers can be a psychologically addicting experience, and my heart goes out to those who want to move away from abdl but are too addicted. my DMs are always open. im happy to see flame post about the new generation entering the fandom 🩷 im happy to see the fandom continuing to thrive :3 my experience with a lot of people in the fandom my age is they are 'welcoming and inclusive' in terms of keeping these sorts of groups included, but not in the way that matters. i encourage my fellow furries to say hi to someone unfamiliar to you, to give people a chance! Rather than be a brick wall until you realize that they 'know someone'. my experience with the furries that have the most clout or whatever is that they tend to focus much more on appearances than genuine connection. finally, i want to reiterate flame's statement: 'not every person who has an abdl kink or who is a babyfur is a bad person and i don’t believe we should be violent towards people who are into things that you may not be into' i hope no one takes anything i said as a personal attack. happy to discuss with anyone. the path of least resistance, of only consuming instead of creating, of blocking and not interacting with everyone you disagree with, is what has brought our society to the current state its in. i would encourage curiosity rather than hate 🦌
