If you have conversations with the parent/career of a girl struggling at school this week, please do note the detail on central systems: particularly at secondary level, really critical big picture info is often lost due to scale. #AutisticGirls #FailingToThriveByFebruary #Record

We'd be keen to know if there's any correlation between increased penalities & rise in UNelective Home Education or #OffRolling by #LA. Suspicion from member experience that punitive & coercive attitude to fining for #SEND kids leads to deregistering - tes.com/news/school-ab…

For many #SEND Children, mainstream schools could be perfect with reasonable adjustments. However, a current drive for compliance at all costs, lack of pastoral funding & disregard for reports of negative experience are driving kids to specialist provison or unelective Home Ed
Superstes@freedom4lou

All across the country children with EHCP’s are starting to find out their secondary school places - there are not enough places in specialist provisions....this is where it sadly gets worse we MUST keep fighting for good inclusion in Mainstream these are incredible children

It’s the whole system we need to be fighting - @educationgovuk - please get your priorities in order? We need to avoid a crisis of epic proportions, and yet your focus seems to be to pile on more pressure. It’s not just #SEND kids suffering, it’s an entire generation of kids.

Why are you allowing current @educationgovuk polices with high stakes exams, excessive testing, failure to accommodate #SEND destroy the #MH of an entire generation of kids. #AutisticGirls waiting for dx & denied #CAMHS support ?? Kids being broken & this is a sticking plaster

#actuallyautistic adults- I am attending our local job centre’s staff meeting this week to help advise them how to be more autism friendly. I have loads of ideas but would love to hear if you have anything that would help when accessing a service like this. Please RT xx

Sentiments included in this are great - relationships & trust: sadly they don’t align w/other polices schools & staff are required to conform with -attendance, cost cutting to reduce pastoral staff, + ‘behaviour’ @educationgovuk - we hope you can join the dots, esp for #SEND kids

A longish (15min read) but utterly inspiring piece on supporting anxious youngsters in school. When we read the list of contributors, it’s easy to see why it’s so insightful. Thank you. Definitely one to read and share. #SEND #AutisticGirls #NotFineInSchool #SENCO @nfis_tweets

@KTaylor_0 It was mentioned as a recomendation (by you?) in last week's #SENexchange I included it in the write up. (inclusiveteach.com/2020/02/09/sch…)

Even with the best school based support, #ThereIsNoSafetyNet & #AutisticGirls access to #CAMHS is patchy at best. When parents are expressing concern, we know the kindest & most inclusive schools work in the home-school-pupil triangle. But we all need to be ultra vigilant
