Proponents to close US Ed Dept claim U.S. was number one in test scores prior to the establishment of the dept in 1979. Now we rank 31st. Did you know the metrics used to measure student performance, PISA, across countries didn’t exist until 2000? Push past rhetoric. Be informed.

The Jefferson County Board of School Commissioners just UNANIMOUSLY passed a resolution OPPOSING Governor Lee’s proposed voucher scheme. They recognize that the so-called “Education Freedom Scholarship Act of 2025” is TOTALLY irresponsible.

@AlexSmyth_ The adequate growth component stands. We now have the ability to conference with the parent, teacher, and admin to promote based on overall performance with tutoring in the next grade.

A new fourth grade promotion gateway has passed. I’m thankful for that. However, almost all TN 3rd and 4th grade students and teachers spent last week worrying over the ramifications of the assessment. I’m glad we have supports in place, but we need the rules before the EOY.
