C'mon, you write in perfect English. I can't imagine Swedish being much harder. I obviously don't understand any Finnish, but as I understand it's one of the most complicated languages. You have been running in the thin air of the Andes and go down to earth again. Interestingly, Finnish has many grammatical similarities with Greenlandic languages. Polysynthetic. I only know the nice words in Greenland. Ngivardivarngina is Eastgreenlandic and means "you're so sexy." And now I'll hit the bars, because I'm feeling very talkative.

There seems to be quite many jobs available in Sweden out of all countries in my field. Too bad, every single position demands fluent Swedish... and mine is not fluent. Perhaps I'll try to apply anyways. I'm not totally useless in Swedish, I can read and understand...

@KinderheimRune Emmelie de Forest - Only Teardrops. Look it up on youtube. Danish contestant, won in 2013. On the surface, it's a love song, but it's also a song about how European countries are only separated by the teardrops from our past.

I just watched Eurovision for the first time ever and I finally understand the “West has fallen” meme. From ruling the world to this..

@FistedFoucault Don't be so hard on them, they're only the 'greatest country on the planet', you can't expect them to win a war against third worlders.

@SKivimaa @wylfcen I had to look up who that is. I see it. I'll take men like that as evidence that the European hunter gatherers weren't completely replaced by Anatolian farmers and the Yamnaya people.

What are some good names of fictional characters? I think they really hit it out of the park with superheroes’ names: Peter Parker, Clark Kent. Christopher Robin is the most beautiful name I’ve ever heard.

One time I googled him to find out what he was doing after the controversies in the UK. It turns out he's in my own country. He's a professor at University of Southern Denmark researching social mobility and genetics of social class As you may have noticed, there's a lot of research in behavior genetics in Scandinavia. It's not as controversial here as in the Anglosphere for some reason. Put simply, I think Anglos see claims of genetic causation as an accusation, whereas Scandinavians see it more as an excuse.

I predicted in 2014 that the 3rd volume of economic historian Gregory Clark's trilogy, which began with "A Farewell to Alms" and "The Son Also Rises," would be entitled "For Whom the Bell Curve Tolls." I was right! Aporia interviews Clark: aporiamagazine.com/p/podcast-gene…

@ApexImperialist I could've taken a bus to university instead, when I lived in Copenhagen. The subway did make me kinda happy one day. There was a school of kids with Down syndrome. When the train stopped, all the kids fell over. That made me smile for a second, before suppressing it.

Fun fact: men used to call their friends “babe” if they had a baby face. That’s how Babe Ruth got his nickname, and also a bunch of lesser-known players like Babe Herman and Babe Adams. We NEED to bring this back.

@cornu__copia I was active on r/The_Donald back in 2016. I remember seeing these white nationalists say, that if it fails in America, they'll just move to Poland. How does that make any sense? They're just as rootless as the cosmopolitan left.

Thinking a bit more about this: We're more likely to drive in the crowded lane. People are mathematically more likely to have a sex partner who've had more sex partners than themselves, because promiscuous people so to speak take turns shaping the view of their exes. When women say, all men are assholes, and men say, all women are sluts, it could very well be based on a minority of the other sex who engage in the majority of sexual relationships.

Unfortunately, I grew up amongst a lot of young widows (my mother included, aged 47 when my dad passed away). Only one, I repeat - ONE - remarried and had another child with an absolute gem of a man, and she was a really young widow (I believe early 30s, and when her husband died - their child was still a baby). The rest of them - never remarried, and only 2 dated later in life. My mom did neither - didn't remarry, didn't go out on a single date. Meanwhile, every male widower of her social circle found someone else within 1-2 years of losing his wife. I am not judging - I don't think people should live like monks, and had my mom found a good partner in her younger years, I would've been very happy for her. But the idea that women just move on from the death of their spouse is empirically incorrect, and the data shows it.
Liz Is Amused@lizisamused

2 years after losing a spouse, 16% of women and 61% of men are remarried. But let's not let facts get in the way of some sad dipshit's pity party 😂

There are many good reasons to be a misogynist, I mean, women are actually more emotional and neurotic, which can be annoying, but I hate that 'revenge of the nerds' type of misogyny. Men with that attitude are not more moral and monogamous; they're just unattractive and desperate. Sure, they would never move on from their late wife, who would want them?

And they even lack nuance in that regard. Liberals insist we refer to Greenlanders as Inuit instead of Eskimos, even though Inuit is only a word in the West Greenlandic language, not in East and North Greenlandic (they call it iivit and inughuit, respectively). West Greenlanders are the most dominant ethnicity in the country. The country is even named after them: 'Kalaallit Nunaat' basically means the country of West Greenlanders. East Greenlanders are widely despised and discriminated against. They're seen as uncivilized savages, because they drink more and get into fights. By referring to them as Inuit instead of Eskimos we accept the language of the oppressors, ironic, considering Eskimo was first rejected for the very same reason.

@JonasReschat @ArtemisConsort It also has elements of Oppressor/Oppressed framing and a Noble Savage ethos. Academic/NGO definitions of Indigeneity claim Han Chinese aren't indigenous to China, Japanese aren't indigenous to Japan but Ainu people are. Just a corruption of the plain meaning of the word.

Modern-day Europeans have been in Europe more than an order of magnitude longer than the Maori have been in New Zealand. Hell, Oxford University is older than the Maori residence in NZ. Yet somehow Europeans are not indigenous to Europe, while the Maori are indigenous to NZ.

The Sami are the only indigenous people in the EU and some of their languages are on the brink of extinction. Sara Wesslin is one of only two journalists in the world broadcasting in Skolt Sami

@ArtemisConsort I think this attitude is the result of a strange misfired ethno-narcissism of white liberals. We are the main character - white people. All other people only exist as different costumes with an interesting food culture but no agency.
