@Dig_A_Hash_Kid @venorusprime @BitcoinKnots Thanks for the kind thoughts. I prefer to be neutral and outside of the core and knots camps for now. Maybe work on another implementation. Maybe focus on the BIPs. We’ll see.

Speaking of poaching... Hey @jonatack, what can a humble pleb do to get you to start developing for @BitcoinKnots? From my outsider perspective it seems like it would be more in line with your ideals about Bitcoin development.

The bcore-mutation tool is much better as well. Among many new features, it now includes support for sqlite3, so we can better manage the runs. Soon to be released.

Working on a new mutation testing dashboard for Bitcoin Core. It will include not only the mutation testing report that I update every week, but also the reports per PR. It will be possible to check the mutation score of a file and PR, see the commands/tests used to evaluate the mutants, copy the diff of a mutant, easily report if a mutant is useless (can be removed from the report), etc.

@LinaSeiche Would suggest another aspect that is important/fundamental: the direction the country is going in (and the corresponding sense of optimism or pessimism in its future)

Some people believe their quality of life will always be higher in a richer country. But our quality of life is made up of two parts: 1. Quality of comfort (convenience in daily life) 2. Sense of belonging (purpose and long-term potential). A poor country that gives its people a future will always be more livable than a rich country that erodes its people’s hope.

For those of you so interested, each consensus rule/behavior is designed to support formal verification - which we are now working on as well. Rules are isolated, clear, identified, and testable. In fact we’ve seen another efforts at formalization that appear to have modeled their rule sets directly on Libbitcoin. This is what we want to see, a robust ecosystem.

The initial release is just the beginning. Libbitcoin is not just a node, or just a server, it’s a full stack high performance development environment. It’s organized for builders, for test, for perf, for scale, for simplicity, and importantly for choice. We don’t dictate your configuration. Old behaviors are not deleted from the code codebase, they are superseded. So you can disable/enable whatever consensus forks you want or don’t want, you can set whatever p2p protocol level or features that you want. There is wide latitude for configuration. There is pervasive high speed eventing, and an integral log system, with extensible event capture. Events can be routed to the console, file system, and/or client-server endpoints. So you will see detailed presentation of behavior, which can be extended for research, curiosity, automation, etc. The built-in admin console operates over http/s (and ws/s), like a typical router. There is an integral block explorer, which is every bit as robust as ones built on an RDBMS with a dedicated web server front end. Yet it will far outperform such systems in latency and scale. Over time these services over integrated endpoints will expand to fully support the critical Bitcoin use cases, including mine pooling. The objective is not just to make a node, but to invigorate the ecosystem that matters, the one that revolves around you - not centralized services.

There has been a huge inflow of money into Paraguay, mostly through stablecoins. For the last couple of years, many people from the crypto space have invested heavily here - mostly (but not only) into real estate. So far, everything looked good. But in the last year, things have started to shift. There are rumors that foreign agencies like USAID have financed programs to "increase transparency." This includes implementing chain analysis (which was already confirmed to be used by DNIT), interviewing people about their transaction history, and more. 🤦‍♂️ To me, all this looks like pressure coming from the outside, not so much from the inside. As I said, Paraguay benefits largely from its local crypto space because it naturally removes the friction that exists in the standard financial system. Stablecoins like USDT give many people access to a digital form of USD, which is hard to get through the standard banking system, and they enable international trades at low cost (there's a lot of trade in places like Ciudad del Este done through USDT). On the other hand, BTC gives locals an option to save for their future in a market that still has very limited investment options, and it allows them to hedge against inflationary fiat currencies. Plus over 40 businesses accept bitcoin payments just in Asunción area. The openness to crypto was definitely one of the main selling points for attracting young entrepreneurs to apply for residency. Many investors came wanting to invest in the local economy, start new businesses, offer job opportunities, and bring valuable experience from abroad. Paraguay was on the way to becoming the next Panama or Dubai, but now it feels uncertain. I really hope this doesn't kill what we've been building over the last couple of years. We will keep fighting back. Our @BTCParaguay community is strong, very active, and full of extremely bright people. However, if the pressure continues and the changes are implemented to the degree stated in the resolution, I can hardly imagine the local space flourishing in the long run. Many Bitcoiners will leave for Panama or other countries, and the influx of new residency applicants will definitely be impacted...

Mr. Kotas this terrible law from Paraguay's Tax Authority reveals many problematic realities underground: - Paraguay did not appreciate, or notice the millions of dollars that entered their economy via Bitcoiners, and crypto traders. - Paraguay does not understand the privacy and security dangers that come from demanding everyone with over $5,000 USD to basically tell the governement everything about their crypto finances, including balances and wallets. - Paraguay has an inept, corrupt, or both person at the head of the economic ministry. He only had to check Panama and Dubai for examples of how to properly welcome, and encourage crypto asset investments, and migration. - Paraguay has probably fell victim to the siren sounds of other nations demanding they "align with best-practices for AML" with a carrot and a stick. And instead of rejecting their lies like El Salvador did, they believed them. I doubt Paraguay will survive as a crypto destination. Taxes are still low, and regulation is still low, so this is not a complete disaster, but it's a significant mistake.

Three and a half months ago I left El Salvador to go snowboarding in the Rocky mountains. I said goodbye to one of my best friends, as you would, expecting to see him when I returned. Unfortunately the curse of cancer found him soon after I left and he passed away yesterday. Surfer, father, husband, bitcoiner, christian and cancer took EVERYTHING in 3.5 months! Love the ones you're with. Tomorrow is never promised. Count your blessings. Love you Andy
