@mmamertino @ONS @UKDataService It doesn’t exist annoyingly. Does in lfs though. You can a. stitch together a bunch of lfs datasets, b. Some cuts available through NOMIS query, c. Ask the social surveys team politely to do it for you, d. Become a secure access researcher and get it yourself.

@NobleFrancis It's interesting to put other sectors alongside construction. It then doesn't seem so bad. But then again, perhaps the UK has a business failure problem.

So much for rapid adoption of #AI technology, let alone job losses due to it. Only around 15% of businesses say they use AI (and this is dominated by ICT, education and prof services sectors); and only about 10% say they intend to adopt it in the next 3 months. #dataisbeautiful

@HAblett @JonathanBoys @CIPD But this forgets full time students also work. About 25% of all 18 year olds are in full time education - mainly HE but some in FE - are in work. With a rising population of 18-24s not sure narrative of full time v employment/workless is that helpful.

4/6 🔸Female participation rates are already high, so less that can be hoped from this vs say Japan in the past 🔸Activity rates have fallen among 16-17yr olds (60% in 1999, 32% now). But doubt we'll see a policy of encouraging people to leave school early

@HeejungChung About 1/4 people in their 30s work mainly from home but it depends on occupation. If you are not an office worker its very hard to find this type of work.

I love people who have been to London a handful of times in their lives saying Holloway and Peckham are “no go areas”, and then when you point out you’ve lived there, they reply “well, you’re middle class” as if that doesn’t completely destroy their own point.

@DrAdamJones It's definitely one of the big concerns when I talk to people (It's not something I worry about too much). ChatGPT can do a lot but most analysis is run locally with help to get code or excel formulas.

I reckon the most immediate impact on HR of AI will be dealing with employees who upload sensitive and confidential info to ChatGPT, causing notifiable data breaches. "I uploaded our sickness records and ChatGPT gave me a summary for my PowerPoint!"

@LibHousing Big difference between owning outright or a young couple with a 5% deposit/absolutely mortgaged to the hilt. Does a LVT treat these the same? A tax on equity seems fair but a tax on debt doesn’t sound progressive to me (have I missed something?)
