@MartinSLewis An economist replies... 🤓 Inflation is caused by an excess of demand over supply ('too much money chasing too few goods'). It doesn't necessarily matter if this imbalance is due to supply-side problems. Reducing demand to match the lower supply should still get inflation down.

I'm no economist, but I struggle with the logic behind base rate rises currently. Inflation seems supply-side driven - but rate rises dampen demand. Then again the BoE is charged with bringing down inflation and this is it's only tool. So it has to do it. Co-ordinated effort with govt would help. Any economists out there, what's your view.
