Viego - There's some notable discrepancies for specifically Viego's data in our internal data that led us to want to initially buff him - Looking at external data however seems to be notably different - Going to double check this data tomorrow and validate the data pipelines before determining whether or not to proceed with the buff Hwei - In line with the fantasy fulfilment I was talking about yesterday, Hwei changes are leaning into his identity as a combo mage - It is a cool pattern and in particular, this set of changes skews him more towards being effective in mid lane compared to bot lane with the level scaling - We're not opposed to him being viable in bot lane, but pushing him towards midlane - We think this makes Hwei more uniquely satisfying compared to say having his damage come from predominantly single QQ, QW or QE casts Lillia - Lillia's power clearing and movement speed are some of her most defining aspects - We're restoring some of that clear speed to better fulfil her fantasy there Lucian - Lucian in bot lane doesn't have a strong differentiation from Corki as a similarly early game dominant ability focused caster - These changes are trying to put more of Lucian's power into his early mobility and giving him more casts of it - We're going to monitor Lucian in solo lanes Mel - We separated some of Mel's damage output in 26.3 by creating a separation between her first initial hit and the subsequent hits - We're reducing how much value she gets from this initial Q landing and backloading the damage more to give her damage more counterplay - We still think we need to do more work to Mel long term - (ARAM) Another note here is that we've been investigating some ARAM specific changes to Mel, since her reflect can be harder to play against in that mode, given the narrowness of the play area Mundo - Mundo rates very highly on our frustration metrics and our changes here are targeted at average play Jungle - Not much to say here, we think top is in a more reasonable spot

@RiotPhroxzon Pls stop everything you are doing and fix the client. It is horrible. I have gone to a dodge after locking in twice in the last 2 isch seconds after locking in. Also, the frame rate is horrible and drops in fights, and that's on a system with a 5080.

Patch 26.7 Full Preview! Shyvana - We're still working on a larger set of changes for Shyvana, but they haven't been finalized yet (I mentioned the direction of some of the changes yesterday) - For this patch, just a change to make Ultimate Haste interactions and also the Sylas interaction nerf from previously Cassiopeia - Buffs to 2 areas that Cassiopeia thrives in; her initial mana pool for early all-ins when she tags with Q - Her maxed E, to reinforce her sustained DPS identity Kalista - Kalista has fallen off significantly in priority in Pro Play, which means we can buff her for regular play! - We're focusing the power in the core area where people play her; her E damage Rell - Similarly, Rell has fallen off pretty significantly as well - Her initial Ult damage will increase her threat in early all-ins, while her E will allow her to fulfil more of her mobile horse identity Veigar - Veigar is in a slightly strong spot for regular play midlane, but is really rocking the bot lane a bit too hard, especially in regular play - The nerfs are targeted at R which sits at Rank 1 in bot lane for quite a lot longer than in solo lanes Singed - Singed is looking a bit too strong in especially normal play - While this nerf looks like a bit of a meme, we expect it matters more than expected on paper just due to the number of stats impacted when ult is active Ornn - Ornn is just a little bit strong, especially given that he has a relatively steep mastery curve

Patch 26.6 Full Preview Azir - We're buffing Azir to distribute some of his power back into regular play capabilities through scaling power that Azir players hopefully will appreciate - Phreak is Xerath Lissandra - Lissandra hasn't really felt the same since her Q cooldown was nerfed in Season 9 - Times have really changed since then and her perma priority waveclear + aftershock taking days and in the vein of making champions feel better to play, we're seeing if she can sustain having this cooldown again Olaf JG - These changes are targeted at Jungle, which has been languishing a bit - Top is a little bit weak, so he will be getting buffed there a bit too Sunfire Aegis - Sunfire's build cost (1000g) has been long cited as a pretty painful experience of the item - While we think having some painful build paths is valuable for the long term value of League, we think this one is a bit too painful ---------- Ranked EUW/VN Matchmaking - We've had about a week and a half now of autofill vs autofill matchmaking being Live and we're seeing excellent results - In regions like Vietnam with a high autofill rate, we're seeing autofill vs autofill go from ~25% of games to 75% of games - In EUW, regular play was already good (90% of the time autofill vs autofill), but in high MMR we went from 30% to 85% - We will continue to roll out to more regions over the coming patches as we're seeing positive results here Apex LP - So far, so good on Apex LP fix resolving most of the issues. The fix looks to be good and is holding - >98% of players should be between 19 and 21 in terms of LP gains, calibrating up and down in small amounts (+19/-21 or +21/-19 or +20/-20) - We have one small fix coming in 26.6 to make this even more consistent

Appreciate the transparency on the champion adjustments. Outside of these changes though, do you feel the jungle role is in a balanced state right now in terms of camp respawn timers and downtime between clears? It seems like the current design direction is to give junglers more time to roam and pressure the map, and in my opinion that makes the game feel less fair to laners trying to play out their 1v1s and 2v2s. The amount of jungle presence in lanes right now feels like it takes away from what should be individual skill matchups a bit more than it is. Curious to hear what Riot's thoughts are on this topic.

Patch 26.5 Full Preview! Ranked EUW Test delayed for another day, we're playing it safe to land the changes without breaking anything Volibear - Voli changes are targeted at balancing out his AD builds vs his currently strong AP builds; needs a bit more time to land Lillia - We're looking to pull back on some of the previous changes and bring Lillia's power level most of the way back to where she was before Orianna - Changes are targeted at reducing the power level of her early laning phase, especially when sitting on Rank 1 Q for several levels Neeko - Neeko has been strong in Pro Play for a while while not being overly strong in regular play - We're taking some power out of her vision outputs which are better used in Pro Play without overly impacting her regular play Varus - Varus was overbuffed a while ago and so we're practically reverting the buff to his Q damage - Lethality Varus has been the strongest ADC in Pro and so we're tapping him down to not overrun the Pro meta

A few notable things coming out in 26.3! Ranked - We are nerfing Challenger duos - Aegis of Valor eligibility criteria is being pushed from a C to a B - We've seen a lot of the discussion about edge cases here. Ultimately, we still think striving to win is better than playing for KDA and losing, especially with the way the current Mastery formula works (you don't optimize Mastery by just playing for KDA and doing nothing) - Peoples' climbs are in various states of de-sync after the usual first month of climbing. Some people are just starting their climbs now, so they will have a climbing indicator to show that their actual skill is higher than their visual rank would imply - Streamer mode is going to make both you and your enemies anonymous when it is being used SR Changes - Many changes this patch to address Mid lane meta, both nerfing the T3 boots and Phase Rush for ranged - The major changes to Mel are landing in this patch, we will be following up closely on her balance state - Adjustments to Dusk & Dawn, as well as AP Varus Top, Ekko and Diana who are outliers with the item. We think the item is overall balanced for other champions - Also, the requested "control wards start in role quest slot" is shipping in this patch for supports - Finally, junglers will find it a bit easier to gank in the early game with nerfs to early faelights and yellow trinkets Demacia Rising & Client Performance - There are new chapters to explore this patch, including Level 3 settlements to experience! - Additionally, there have been a variety of improvements to Demacia Rising's impact on client performance

Patch 26.02 Full Preview! Jungle - Some of the main changes this patch are re-distributing some of the jungle power - This includes buffs to some of the AD junglers like Aatrox, Master Yi, Viego, Trynd (micropatched last patch) and nerfs to some of the outliers like Zed, Jayce who has been strong for a while - Several of the AP or Tank junglers have really benefitted from being able to kill Epic monsters from increased pet damage, where they otherwise previously lacked DPS to do so and so they're being tapped down a bit as well - We expect that this shift within the Jungle role itself is going to have ripple effects into Pro Play, but are waiting to see the outcomes of this before taking larger swings and having Junglers hold more dominion over Epic monsters is an intended directional adjustment Game Strategy - One of our major goals with this season was bring into better balance the 3 major strategic decisions - Sieging, Grouping for Objectives & Split Pushing are all intended to play a part - In 2025 in particular, Grouping for Objectives was by far the dominant strategy, so the adjustments to tower plates, homeguards, minion spawn rate and nerfs to objective power were intended to change some of this balance - In particular, it was hard to justify hitting towers sometimes without rewards for doing so and in some situations, champions were ready to hit towers, but there just weren't minions in the right place at the right time to facilitate that especially in the sidelanes - We're curious to see how strategy for this evolves over the course of the Season

Patch Preview 26.02! Gameplay Thoughts - Game Time & Snowballing: For the most part, our metrics around snowballing have come in and they're not looking any higher than last season (and for average play are lower). This is pretty much the same across every region. Game time is also looking slightly longer in each region, and even moreso given that the game starts earlier. But at the same time, players have reported that games feel a lot faster. We have a few hypotheses: Certainly, downtime with more frequent minion spawns and homeguards makes it feel like there's constant action happening. Hitting towers and getting those chunks of damage from crystalline overgrowth both feels more rewarding (and more confronting on the receiving end), so it feels like progress is being made faster, even if it's not actually that much faster. Barons are being taken earlier, since they're spawning again at 20 minutes, even though Baron takes are a bit weaker than they were before (gives +150G instead of +300G), so games don't typically end after the first Baron push. Players have often associated the first Baron take with the game being over, but that is a bit less of the case this Season. For now, we're not going to make any changes to Snowballing and Game Length, but will continue to monitor how things play out. Balancing the needs of the Summoner's Rift audience is pretty tough. There is a section of the audience who really enjoys the slow, methodical form of "Classical Chess/League" and at the same time, there are some sections of the audience who love "Blitz Chess/League". While we don't intend to go all the way down to Bullet chess speeds, we also need to be very responsive to the needs of our audience, especially global players and younger players who are often looking for a game with less downtime and faster pacing. At the same time, we don't want to move so quickly that we're alienating our long time core players who might be looking for a slower, more strategic game. We'll continue to fine-tune this over the course of the season. Vision: The amount of vision has also been a hot topic. We've heard a lot of your discussions on Faelights and the overall state of vision. We've opted not to do anything to do them for 16.2, but are in active discussion for 16.3, especially in terms of how they affect early jungle ganks. Otherwise, we're not planning anything major until Pro Play starts. Role Agency & Strategy: We're going to hold a little bit on taking a definitive stance on which roles are most and least powerful, we don't feel any are so out of line that we need to act now. It's been fun to observe how some players are putting roles at the top of their tier list and different players are putting the same role at the bottom (cough ADC cough). There are a lot of things for players to optimize here, but so far, we've been pretty happy with how the game, especially in the mid-game feels a bit more strategic; should I greed tempo to get an Overgrowth proc here, should I push next wave to try and get that turret chunk for gold. Bugs & Features - [Fixed] Draven Q: Bug that was causing reduced damage has been micropatched onto Live - [?] Dropped Inputs: We've been actively triaging some reports of dropped inputs on 16.1 when sequencing abilities. Things like Q -> Hydra -> W on Fiora working differently in 15.24 compared to 16.1. If you have any more examples of these, please pass them over, so we can track them down. - [16.3] Support Quest + Control Ward Bindings: We've been testing 2 changes to address some of the bad feels around control wards. The first is to put the control ward in the role quest slot at the start of the game (this has some weirdness with how the UX of the slot is conveyed and can be confusing to players). We're also testing an option where control wards can be double bound to both the role slot and the item slot where you hold it in your inventory. We've also been investigating whether we should be reverting V be defaulted back to caution ping and to re-bind the role quest slot to a different button. - Cassio: Please remember to buy boots on Cassio, she has feet now Ranked - [16.2] Champ Mastery: We're actively resolving an issue where Champ Mastery grades are higher than normal in certain situations (S's in situations where it's not warranted) - [16.2] Aegis of Valor: We've resolved an issue where in <1% of games Aegis of Valor was not proccing in situations where it should (eg. when autofilled) - [16.2/3] Start of Season LP: For players in OCE & China who played games during the period where Ranked placements were compromised, we will be granting players bonus LP for games played during that period - [16.2] KR and JP Ranked Climbers: For players in Korea and Japan who started their climbs during the compromised period, we're also looking to remedy their situations sometime during Patch 16.2. - We're seeing reduced dodge rates across all MMR's - We've also been seeing some successful lobby terminations for disruptive behavior and are continuing on our journey to roll this out in more regions - But overall the Ranked changes have rolled out pretty smoothly and we're happy with how things have gone there

A few Season Start updates: 1. We're going to be adjusting duo queue restrictions to make Challenger duo more restrictive (currently thinking GM+). This won't affect the first patch of the season as we typically allow folks to duo unrestricted on that patch 2. Due to an issue with some erroneous placements, we've disabled Ranked for an hour (this should only affect OCE) while we deploy a fix. We will compensate players adversely affected by this. 3. There's been a lot of discussion about how we're defining region boundaries for lanes (mid, top, etc.) and how it's frustrating to dip out of lane to ward and get quest progress punished Don't have anything to share back yet, but agree it's an issue and looking into it
