As a Lebanese, this is one of the happiest days in Lebanon’s history. As a Middle Easterner, this is one of the most transformative days for the Middle East. As a human being who holds peace before my eyes, this is the most important day for our region. Nasrallah and Hezbollah have terrorized the Lebanese people since the 1980s. He is responsible for the continuous downfall of Lebanon’s economy and sovereignty. He bears responsibility for countless assassinations of fine Lebanese men and women, solely for opposing his grip on our precious country. Nasrallah is also responsible for the slaughter of thousands of Syrian children, women, and men, as well as for other atrocities across the Middle East. Every Lebanese and every decent human being should feel joy at the downfall of one of the greatest evils of our time. Now, we have a real chance to look forward, ensuring Hezbollah’s weapons are handed over to the Lebanese authorities, and sitting down with Israelis and the West for genuine negotiations on normalization and peace between our countries—Israel and Lebanon.

And along with them, because of threats from Hezbollah, we the families of the South Lebanon Army came to Israel. בדיוק היום לפני 26 שנה, צה״ל נסוג מדרום לבנון. ואיתם, בגלל איומים מצד חיזבאללה, הגענו משפחות צד״ל לארץ. 26 years later, we, the children of the SLA, continue the path of our parents with hope for peace. And here from Israel, as Israelis Lebanese, we work to serve as a bridge between the two peoples. לפני 26 שנה בדיוק, השערים נפתחו ו7,000 מאנשי צד״ל ומשפחותיהם עברו את הגדר מלבנון לישראל. אבא שלי היה אחד מהם. אמא שלי, אח שלי ואני נשארנו בלבנון, באותו זמן לא היה ברור מה יקרה, אם יגיעו להסכם בין ממשלת ישראל ללבנון ויחזירו את כולם חזרה. אבל האמת המרה התגלתה מהר מאוד, עם כיבוש טוטאלי של חיזבאללה לכל אורכה ורוחבה של רצועת הביטחון, נכנסו לבתים, הכו נשים וילדים ומי שנשאר שם עבר עינויים קשים, שחלקם לא הצליחו לשרוד. אם ההבנה הזאת, שהדרום נפל שוב וכי ממשלת לבנון לא נמצאת בכלל בסיטואציה. אמא, אחי ואני עשינו את הדרך לכאן. אבל אותה נקודת שפל שעברנו, אי שם לפני 26 שנה, עם הצורה שבה הנסיגה קרתה והיחס לאנשי צד״ל על ידי אהוד ברק, והתמונות מהגדר של משפחות שלמות שמחכות לשערים להיפתח עבר המון מייצרות תמונה שעל פניה קצת יותר מורכבת. אבל עבורי אישית, ועובר כמה מחבריי ממשפחות צד״ל זה כל ההבדל בין מולדת לבין בית. אחת החברות הכי טובות שלי, שהיא גם מנטור עבורי, תמיד אומרת משפט שנחקק אצלי עמוק: לבנון היא כמו האם שהולידה אותנו, ונטשה אותנו רגע אחרי. וישראל, עם הקושי ישראל היא האמא שאימצה אותנו, עזרה לנו, נתנה לנו מקלט ועזרה לי להתפתח כשהשמיים הם הגבול. אז כששואלים אותי היום אם אני מוכן לוותר על האמא המאמצת כי האם ״הביולוגית״ פתאום נזכרה בנו 50 שנה אחרי? התשובה די ברורה. אני הולך להישאר עם האמא שהייתה שם לצידי לאורך השנים. הדם שזורם בעורקיי הוא לבנוני, אבל השייכות האמיתית היא לאם שגידלה אותי.

love how some “news outlets” are trying so hard to make the children of collaborators relevant. 26 years ago their parents fled to “Israel”. Anyone advocating for their return can join them in “Israel” simple. That being said, cant wait for the 25th to celebrate our resistance🥰

@Jonathan_Elk Peace can be easily achieved if Israel stopped bombing, killing Lebanese people. A slice of cake isn’t going to change what Israel is doing in the Middle East for decades. I would have made this Jew choke on her cake.

Our Jewish neighbors made ‘Layali Beirut’ desert for their Shavuot holiday dinner last night, and brought us some today. She made it as an appreciation and hope for peace between Lebanon and Israel 🇮🇱🕊️🇱🇧 Our neighbors are the best 🥹
