Former Houston Rockets beat writer for the Houston Chronicle. Unbelievably fortunate and grateful.

Doug Moe, who guided the #Spurs to the brink of the NBA Finals in 1979 and ranks only behind Gregg Popovich in franchise history in games coached (377) and wins (177), died Tuesday after an illness. He was 87. expressnews.com/sports/spurs/a…

I'm grateful that I got to spend 16+ years working at a place that felt like home, with colleagues whose talents were only exceeded by their quality as people. My time at the Washington Post is over but the pride I feel from being a part of that awesome Sports staff will live on.

I guess democracy has died, y’all Well at least, the greatest sports section in all the land has… Like so many of my amazingly talented friends & colleagues, my time at the washington post is over. Inconceivable that this was the decision for our section. But onward.

Some personal news: Excited to announce that I'll be covering the Rockets for @HoustonChron. I officially start Monday but will be at tonight's game. Can't wait to get started! Rockets fans — what do you want to know about your team? houstonchronicle.com/about/newsroom…

As soon as Cleveland Cavaliers coach Kenny Atkinson sat down for his pregame chat with the media in Houston, he immediately asked, "Where's Jonathan Feigen from the Houston Chronicle?" You're missed by everyone @Jonathan_Feigen

Excited to share that today is my first day at @USATODAY as a national sports enterprise reporter. I’ll write features and investigations about all sports – stories that cover the heartwarming, corrupt and weird. Email dlerner@usatodayco.com with tips, story ideas and dad jokes.

Of course it's overtime for my last game. Why not?

This week is my last at the Houston Chronicle. After 4.5 years, I’m taking a new journalism opportunity (TBA) that keeps me in Houston. My last Rockets game is Sunday. I’ve covered NBA playoffs, Final Fours, World Series & the Olympics. But the people mean more than the events🧵

It's the final day at @3MOpen and my last at @StribSports after accepting a buyout. I've covered it all in 41 years on the job. Blessed that it never was work for me. Lucky, too, to work with so many funny, talented people. Thanks for reading and engaging. It was a good run. JZ
