$ASTS x $VOD: 🚨VODAFONE IRELAND AND AST SPACEMOBILE DEMONSTRATE IRELAND'S FIRST SATELLITE VIDEO CALL Ireland's first mobile video phone call via satellite using a standard smartphone has been made. The call was completed by @VodafoneGroup engineer Robert Ivers from an area of no coverage on Clare Island, Co Mayo to @VodafoneIreland CEO Sabrina Casalta in Dublin. Vodafone said it highlights the potential of satellite technology to help close coverage gaps, strengthen network resilience and ensure people can stay connected in remote areas. Dedicated satellite phones can be large, heavy and expensive. As a result, they tend to be used only by people in specialist situations, such as long-distance sailors, alpine rescue teams and aid workers in disaster zones. This new technology means a regular smartphone can get access to internet and calls using satellites. Vodafone said it is now progressing further technical development and regulatory engagement, with a view to bringing satellite connectivity to customers as soon as possible. The announcement of the first satellite call is being made today to coincide with a visit to Ireland by Vodafone Group Chief Executive Margherita Della Valle to mark 25 years of Vodafone in Ireland and to meet with the Taoiseach Micheál Martin. "Ireland’s first satellite-enabled call reflects Vodafone’s ambition to push the boundaries of connectivity and to invest in technologies that deliver real impact for customers and society," Ms Della Valle said. Mr Martin said Ireland’s first satellite mobile call demonstrates how innovation can strengthen resilience, extend connectivity to remote communities and support emergency services. "As Vodafone marks 25 years in Ireland, today’s announcement highlights the significant contribution the company has made to our digital economy, connectivity and employment," he said. The call was made in partnership with Satellite Connect Europe connecting to @AST_SpaceMobile's satellite constellation. rte.ie/news/business/…

Over 500K mi² of the U.S. has no traditional network coverage. For first responders, that’s not just a gap—it’s a risk. T-Satellite helps extend your mission-critical comms when towers can’t. No extra gear. Just your smartphone. Is your team covered when it matters most?

Some good nuggets from @TMFAssociates. - SpaceX buying Globalstar seems likely. - AST telling people it plans to launch extensively on NG this year. As I wrote earlier - a batch shipment to anyone other than SpaceX in April will suggest the speculation around issues fitting into F9 are true, and it sounds like Tim is hearing the same. Likely devastating for their launch schedule. $ASTS

@Martyupnorth It's hilarious if you think that 20 billion will build a moon base. I.S.S cost $150 billion. I get your point though but when you're fighting American lobbyists to keep cheap oil flowing down south it's a big battle. I wonder how long it will take to pay for itself though?

@AlexfromBabylon @TMFAssociates As I wrote earlier - if they ship the April batch to anyone other than SpaceX, then yes, it would appear so. Explain how do you go from overbooked on SpaceX flights (per Tanner) to needing a backup launch provider this year?

@Reformed_Trader I believe the fact that there is a regime change happening cause conflicting reports, while not in full control old regime will still have some power and propaganda sources. While the new regime is trying to get a foothold and control their media. kinda crazy to see in real time.

Going through comments on these headlines is hysterical. People are confusing "lack of a plan" for optionality. The U.S. can be seeking a ceasefire for negotiations while also sending troops over. Either people forgot how wars are fought or simply drowning in their own pessimism.

NEWS: NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman announced today a $20 billion plan to build a permanent U.S. base on the Moon over the next 7 years. NASA is cancelling plans to deploy a space station in lunar orbit. “NASA is committed to achieving the near‑impossible once again, to return to the Moon before the end of President Trump’s term, build a Moon base, establish an enduring presence, and do the other things needed to ensure American leadership in space. The clock is running in this great‑power competition, and success or failure will be measured in months, not years. If we concentrate NASA’s extraordinary resources on the objectives of the National Space Policy, clear away needless obstacles that impede progress, and unleash the workforce and industrial might of our nation and partners, then returning to the Moon and building a base will seem pale in comparison to what we will be capable of accomplishing in the years ahead.” The plan: Phase One: Build, Test, Learn NASA shifts from bespoke, infrequent missions to a repeatable, modular approach. Through CLPS (Commercial Lunar Payload Services) deliveries and the LTV (Lunar Terrain Vehicle) program, the agency will increase the tempo of lunar activity, sending rovers, instruments, and technology demonstrations that advance mobility, power generation (including radioisotope heater units and radioisotope thermoelectric generators), communications, navigation, surface operations, and a wide range of scientific investigations. Phase Two: Establish Early Infrastructure With lessons from early missions in hand, NASA moves toward semi‑habitable infrastructure and regular logistics. This phase supports recurring astronaut operations on the surface and incorporates major international contributions, including JAXA’s (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) pressurized rover, and potentially other partner scientific payloads, rovers, and infrastructure/transportation capabilities. Phase Three: Enable Long‑Duration Human Presence As cargo‑capable human landing systems (HLS) come online, NASA will deliver heavier infrastructure needed for a continuous human foothold on the Moon, marking the transition from periodic expeditions to a permanent lunar base. This will include ASI’s (Italian Space Agency) Multi-purpose Habitats (MPH), CSA’s (Canadian Space Agency) Lunar Utility Vehicle, and opportun.

@RazorOil The Teck (frontier mine) I think would have been done. I'm still trying to connect the dots to see if Quebec is heavily invested into trains. It's the only reason I can see that they would fight so hard against pipelines.
