@TrowsdaleGary Agreed. The prison population is under extreme pressure. As opposed to seeking better ways to manage and support low risk offenders through effective community sentencing options, it builds more prisons. Not to mention the impact this has on recalls. 🤷‍♂️

Good to hear each prison will be getting a Reading Strategy. What we also need are senior level staff in prisons with the skills and expertise to consistently delivery against said strategies. Not necessarily operationally experienced but passionate, sector experienced leaders.

Well done McDonalds for helping to give people a second chance. Working in the community from open prison conditions is a fundamental part of the resettlement process. McDonalds have been supporting this for over a decade. More organisations should do the same.
