The Knicks future looks bleak💭 Here’s what they’re up against…. 1. Celtics entire roster was hurt -kristaps Illness -Jaylen Brown (partially torn meniscus) -jrue Holiday (hamstring) -Jayson Tatum (wrist/Achilles) 2. Cavaliers: -half the starting lineup was hurt (Mobley, Garland, Mitchell) -they’re still young & improving. Haven’t hit they’re ceiling yet -plenty of depth + assets to improve their roster 3. Milwaukee Bucks -Dame Hurt -may go all in again to build around Giannis 4. Sixers: -entire roster hurt (Embid, George, Maxey) -tanked for a pick & now have the 3rd overall pick. Could be used as an asset to push themselves back into contention 5. Pacers: -simply a better team top to bottom over the Knicks -owner recently stated he’s willing to pay the tax finally -have more assets + young players to be used to acquire even more talent -a young ascending roster that will improve 6. Pistons: -young ascending roster that still improving -have assets to improve their roster -have cap space to sign another impact player 7. Magic: -young ascending roster, still radically improving -young superstars in franz & paolo. They will be a great team soon -plenty of assets to improve their roster 8. Western Conference: -there’s at least 7 if not 9 teams in the western conference that are currently deeper & more talented than the Knicks -young teams like OKC & HOU aren’t going anywhere. Rich with young talent & draft assets to improve. -even if the Knicks narrowly thread a needle to get out of the east, anyone coming out of the west will stonewall the Knicks. 9. Knicks: -old roster, entire core is at their prime or soon to enter decline -zero assets or ability to improve their roster (Nets own there draft until 2033) -no depth, they ran a 7 man rotation for a reason. They simply don’t have any bench talent -nearly capped at the 2nd apron, they have no cap space to improve in Free agency -Mikal bridges extension will put them over the 2nd apron The reality for the Knicks is the Mikal Bridges trade destroyed their title window. They traded a superstar package of 6 1st round picks for a role player. Mistakes like this aren’t forgiven or forgotten anytime soon in the NBA. If not for the Bridges heist, the Knicks would be lined up to improve this roster via trade for someone like Giannis. A true 1A star to lift them over the top. 2025 ECF was as far as this rendition of the Knicks could possibly made it. Without assets to improve they’re stuck in permanent mediocrity.
