Intelligence & insanity go hand in hand.
Ignorance truly is bliss.

She turned down $1 million and made developers build an entire shopping mall around her house.
In 2006, 84-year-old Edith Macefield refused to sell her tiny Seattle home, even after developers offered her a fortune to make way for a new project. She simply said she didn't need the money and wanted to live out the rest of her life in the home she loved.
Instead of forcing her out, the developers changed their plans and built a five-story shopping center around her house, leaving it standing alone in the middle of the construction.
While surrounded by cranes, dust, and constant noise, Edith stayed put, blasting her TV and music to drown out the chaos. Along the way, she formed an unlikely friendship with construction superintendent Barry Martin, who helped care for her and became one of her closest companions.
When Edith passed away in 2008 at the age of 86, she left her beloved home to Martin in her will.
Her remarkable stand against development and the unforgettable image of her little house surrounded by towering buildings has often been linked as an inspiration for Pixar's Up.
Sometimes, home is worth more than any amount of money.

People spend so much energy trying to prevent betrayal that they never stop to ask whether the person they’re with actually has integrity.
And that’s the part that matters.
Because control can produce compliance, but it cannot produce character.
Anyone can wear a mask when you’re standing in front of them.
The truth is revealed by what they do when you’re not.

Because if someone wants to lie, cheat, disrespect you, entertain other people, cross boundaries, or be disloyal, they’ll eventually find a way.
You can delay it, hide it, or make it more difficult for them.
But you can’t control another person’s integrity.
That’s why I’ve never been interested in forcing people to do the right thing.
I want to see what they choose when they’re free.
The only thing I’m strict about is what I will and won’t tolerate.
Everything else is your decision.
