Because Sonic The Hedgehog was THE definition of 90's cool! Been that way, since his inception. The Care Bears is the antithesis of everything that character stood for & is a clear sign of Sega focusing on everything else, other than giving Sonic a good mainline game.

Sonic characters literally have their designs based off of Felix the Cat and Mickey Mouse. If you want Sonic to be intimidating, you're gonna have to change a huge aspect of his character design
