I went to Nashville Fairgrounds yesterday to test @HoosierTire for the upcoming @CARSTour race there on April 11th. I had a lot of fun. I hadn't ran a lap there since middle of 1999. I raced there a dozen times in the mid 1990s when it was a hotbed for Late Model Stocks. You'd have 30 cars for a weekly 100 lap feature. It was amazing. Somehow the Late Model Stock footprint receded to western Tennessee over the years. Anyhow, the track is fast. There are some weeper issues and a massive bump off turn 2 but it wasn't nothing of real concern. We also got a chance to test mufflers. The noise ordinance makes them a requirement. Speaking of which, Marcus Smith wants to build a sophisticated sound barrier around the track once the local government can get on board. Another conversation for another time. It was emotional to make those laps yesterday. Like visiting an old friend and realizing they still were the same person you always admired. Cant wait to have our Pro and Late Model Stock cars there next month. We plan to be in town at Tootsies on Thursday evening to promote the tour and hopefully allow some folks to meet our drivers. I-65 N at I-440 is presently shut down due to this situation. Roads, particularly in neighborhoods, are icy and hazardous. A number of traffic lights are out. Treat those intersections as 4-way stops.

The first meeting of the Interpersonal Violence Workgroup will take place on Monday, December 9 at 2:00 PM in Committee Room 1 of the Metropolitan Courthouse. The meeting is open to the public, and community members are encouraged to attend.

Until we can count 21 yes votes, Metro cannot move forward with LPR technology no matter how much demand there is from residents or how effective it has been in other cities.

I get asked all the time: why doesn’t Nashville have License Plate Readers (LPRs) when so many other cities use them successfully?
The short answer is that it takes 21 votes on Metro Council to approve a contract. Right now those votes simply aren’t there.
