D-Line Drive Sled Drill - The drive sled drill is designed to develop muscle memory in defensive linemen so they understand the necessity of continuing to drive their feet upon making contact with an opponent. - Players must demonstrate explosive movement by coming out of their hips and shooting their hands directly from the ground to the man to initiate contact. - It is critical for the player to maintain a wide base throughout the duration of the drill while driving the sled. - Coaches should ensure that a player's feet never get too close together during the drive, as keeping them spread allows the athlete to maintain power. - Maintaining full arm extension while driving is a key technical component for defensive linemen to master during this exercise. - The drill concludes, and the player releases from the sled only when the coach blows the whistle.
