🚨 New mini-research: How does ChatGPT’s Shopping feature choose and price products? I analyzed all of the ChatGPT Search shopping results in for two different product searches - Couches and Lions Mane Mushrooms. Key takeaways in this thread.

5. Not Just Big Retailers GPT Shopping results are not dominated by Amazon, Walmart, etc. We saw lots of mid-market and small businesses (DTC brands, Shopify stores, regional chains).

4. Sale Price Handling GPT correctly picks up discounted prices over MSRP when both appear (e.g., strikethrough scenarios). It seems to understand basic pricing semantics and contexts.

3. No Evidence of Page Rendering All of the results had pricing information available in the HTML Source in some capacity. Target was the most suspicious with price in a large JSON file only. Possible that it renders if it needs to? Target was also lower on the results list.
