@JosephHansell

I won't disturb the slumber of feelings that have died. If I'd never loved, I never would have cried.

According to the author of the book 1929, Hoover lost the 1932 presidential election to FDF because of his opposition to the repeal of Prohibition, not because of the state of the economy at that time, which a solid majority saw as improving. You learn something new every day.

Bob Seger is better than Bruce Springsteen. I don’t know how many of you are joining me on this island but I feel like it will be 50% geniuses and 50% guys who make women instinctively lock their car doors.

@Hot_Pepper76 I always wondered what fate awaited the barber who accidentally cut Capone's face with a razor in the opening scene.

Untouchables (1987) I’ve seen this one a few times. It’s based on Eliot Ness bringing down Al Capone, but much of what we remember, especially the big action scenes, were built for the screen, not pulled from the case files. Who played Eliot Ness? A) Steve Martin B) Harvey Korman C) Kevin Costner D) Chevy Chase

@MikeVacc Sterling was a radio announcer. His job was to describe what was happening on the field for those who couldn't see it. He failed utterly & completely at that job. Sorry, but his passing doesn't change that fact.

Column: John Sterling was a 1-of-1 original who lived and loved his job as Voice of the #Yankees every bit as much as it seemed. He touched countless lives & his legacy lives in every time someone exclaims: “THUUUUUH Yankees win!!” Godspeed to a legend. nypost.com/2026/05/04/spo…

@MikeVacc Maybe you can get in your tiresome time tunnel & go back 76 years this time, Mike: "This series could be as big a NY/Philly mismatch as the Yankees over the Whiz Kids in 1950!"

ICYMI, Column: after these last 16 remarkable quarters, after these last four resplendent games, a very fair question is starting to come clear: when is it OK to start believing — to start REALLY believing — in the #Knicks? nypost.com/2026/05/05/spo…

@JohnnyBets_KY How so? The SA Derby is one of the major Derby preps. Hence the winner would likely be among the top betting choices.

@DADiClementi Interesting admission on your part, that she may have adjusted her thinking on some things, due to her life experiences or whatever reason. Most people do. But apparently you haven't. "Everybody's so different, I haven't changed."-Joe Walsh

@Hot_Pepper76 I'd take a list from Guitar World much more seriously than one from Rolling Stone or the NYT, which is just "how many POC or women can we put on here?" virtue signalling. But these lists have been virtually unchanged for decades: Hendrix, Clapton, Berry, Van Halen, BB King...

Does anyone here read Guitar World? It’s been around since 1980 and is still one of the top guitar magazines, with artist interviews, gear reviews, and music news. I came across one of their top guitarist lists... do you take those seriously?

Which legendary Western star loved the Blazing Saddles script but turned down a cameo because it was too crude for his cowboy image? A) Clint Eastwood – Squinted at the script and it backed down. B) The Lone Ranger – Asked if Tonto approved, then rode off before the campfire scene. C) John Wayne - Said no, but promised he’d be first in line to watch it. D) Roy Rogers – Said Trigger wouldn’t be caught dead in that script.
