@Gagaegral I agree about things beyond just a static image telling you more about a Pokémon but good sprite work can absolutely achieve this. Just not the "stay in static pose while move animation happens" spritework of the first 4 generations.

This makes me think of some Pokémon whose battle animations reveal aspects of their inspiration/character, things that would have been impossible to depict in game before the 3D era

Getting upset when any idea is portrayed subtly or in animations rather than immediately & obviously slapped onto the design itself honestly reeks of "How dare you make me think slightly harder about something, I just wanna look at cool imagery & turn my brain off"

@SnivyKing34q5 @AstralBlackLord @Raythesnivy Nah, I don't see it. I love Pokémon due to nostalgia and the designs of Pokémon and chatacters still being good. But the mainline games themselves? The best is barely a 7/10. The worst a 4, on Switch 2 at least. And all the others swim in between.

@JosephKing01010 @AstralBlackLord @Raythesnivy I would say the opposite is true, and that Pokémon games are a prime example of this. Obviously they're far from flawless, but they're treated like the worst games ever when really, I wouldn't say there's a mainline Pokémon game that's TRULY bad.
