I didn’t agree with Charlie Kirk on everything, including his views on the Catholic Church, but God help us if we can’t even talk without shooting at one another. As a nation, we can be better than this. For the sake of our future, we must be.

Our hearts and prayers are with all those affected by the mass shooting this morning at Annunciation School in Minneapolis, which I believe is the first mass shooting at a Catholic school. May Jesus, the Prince of Peace, be with all the victims, their friends and families, and the emergency services personnel who are responding to this terrible tragedy.

I wasn't sure what to expect from Sketch. What I got was a movie that reminds me of all the great kids movies from the 90s. Funny, heartfelt, and surprisingly grounded despite an incredible sense of child-like wonder. If you have kids, go see this movie. Sleeper of the year.

My daughter also wanted me to let parents know that the film is a little scary, so probably best for older kids.

In your kindness, please pray for my Aunt Val, who by all indications is in her final days (and perhaps her final hours). She has been ill for some time, and has been the picture of grace in suffering, finding joy in her final years in everyday moments with her family. May God hold her in his mercy, grant her a happy and peaceful passing, and welcome her into his kingdom when her days are over.

Here's a bit of Bible trivia: In the original Hebrew, Psalm 119 is an acrostic poem. It follows a structure where each set of eight verses (a stanza) begins with a successive letter of the Hebrew alphabet. This pattern repeats throughout the psalm's 176 verses, divided into 22 stanzas, each corresponding to one of the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet. Just an example of how some details can be lost in translation!
